2 RepliesIt can still be considered evil in your terms of which side you're on. But thank you though for mentioning the different races in a way. The only enemy of Darkness are the Hive and Vex. The Cabal and Fallen are just alien races on who is terribly militaristic and the other nomadic pirates.

The traveler is not good nor evil. It is like a child in a sense, it does what it does because it does not know right from wrong. People on Earth only defend it and care for it because it gave us something we only read in books or saw on the television. Now, my studies on the darkness must continue, so farewell.

Don't know but that Traveler being bad but Birdman will have you know that he thought (and still thinks) the Speaker is evil. When Birdman saw his title as "voice of the Traveler" for the first time in the Beta, Birdman has kept a close eye on that shady guy ever since. ( * v * )

The story is junk and has been publicly put out there that it was changed massively. He prob was evil originally. We will never know

One problem. The traveler wasn't here to make a last stand. The traveler was intending to flee and Rasputin killed him/her.

2 RepliesEveryone take off your tinfoil hats, this is what really happened. Ok the traveler didn't make a final stand here. Rasputin attacked it and crippled it because it tried to flee when the fallen caught up. It didn't intentionally bring the darkness here it was followed.

15 RepliesActually the grimoire says, at the very least, the traveler isn't good. ... [spoiler]It was getting ready to abandon us, so Rasputin basically shot it out of the sky so it couldn't leave and would be force to stay and protect humanity. That's why all the damage is on the underside. I forget which card it is, but there is one where Rasputin specifically says its targeting "O" (the traveler) so that it will be crippled and forced to enable a pseudo protective protocol. I.e. It pretended to ace us, when really it was just saving itself. [/spoiler]

It's probably something that could happen, some major secret the speaker has been keeping. Matpat would be right if this was the original storyline, but that was scrapped and what we will get is something that may be similar or completely different.

The traveler isn't evil. Well not the whole of it anyway. The traveler possess some mirror thingy that reveals its dark side. Now the real question is right in front of us. How do we know the traveler that hangs above Earth isn't actually the evil traveler, aka, the darkness. It's just a theory but the darkness could be disguised as the traveler.

13 RepliesI really, really hope it's not evil. That would be a massive cliché practically everyone could see coming. Although I do think it's not all we imagine it to be. Didn't it try fleeing Earth when the Darkness attacked, and was only stopped because Rasputin attacked it?

2 RepliesWhen they interviewed a bungie employee with like 100 questions, one of the last ones was asking if the traveler and speaker are secretly evil. The bungie employee looked stress and gave a rather vague answer.

We'll never know. The story got scrapped and they are piecing together a new story. I'll reply in 8 yrs 11 months if Destiny 2,3,4, & 5 see the light of day.

The traveler is a stupid round ball that does nothing. Bungie doesnt know where they r going with the traveler which is why they focus on other stuff.

I don't think the Traveler is by any stretch what we would label as evil ... however, is it totally altruistic? Nope. It's a sentient being with its own agenda. That agenda may or may not align with what we consider "good." It gave us the golden age, but it was also ready to bail out on us when the darkness grew too strong and dangerous in our system. I'm certain this scenario had played out dozens or hundreds of times before after looking at the fragment lore. Rasputin stopped the Traveler, and in its damaged state it calculated that the ghosts were the best move for us ... and for its possible healing and redemption. TL; DR Traveler isn't evil, but might have something up its sleeve ...

I loved MatPat's video but it was definitely outdated as far as story and lore goes.

8 RepliesOnly problem with this is that the Traveler didn't give us "such a bright Golden Age because it was tired of running and wanted to make a stand". Read Rasputin's Grimoire. The Traveler www in the middle of abandoning us to the darkness and saving it's on skin just like it did to the Fallen when Rasputin took drastic measures and saved our asses. Is the Traveler evil? I don't think so. But he's certainly not good.
