Summer music Festivals
Anyone going to any festivals this year? If not, have you been to any before? What were they like?
I'm going to All Tomorrow's Parties this year as my first festival experience and it looks absolutely brilliant. It's all held in a holiday resort with the attendees, the organisers and the artists all staying in the same accommodation like a big musical college campus; so basically I could end up chilling with the guys from bands I like (wishful thinking). Hell, you can even get artists setting up shows in the middle of living areas or even just inside their chalets and playing out of the window.
It's also great in the way that it was made as a reaction to corporate festivals so everything about it is totally genuine, no big business stuff, all about the music and the fans.

Just got back from ATP. Holy shit it was the best thing ever. I met Bradford Cox and Avey Tare and got eyes painted on my eyelids. Totally rad

They just recently had the Orion Festival in Detroit. Metallica RHCP Rise Against Bassnectar etc. Heard it was a good time.

It's the Jazz Festival in my city. That combined with the runoff from Calgary swelling the river has made for a pretty busy downtown :P
