I'm just curious as to what everyone's definition is of music. There's no right or wrong definition I think. For example, I don't think nicki minaj's tune's is real music. It has to be creative and real to me. Also, pitbull sucks

Good or bad, music is music. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's not music.

Of course Nicki Minaj makes music. It's pretty ridiculous to suggest otherwise. It's like saying that my shitty drawing of a house is not a drawing when it literally is a drawing by definition. She just doesn't make good music. No other distinction needs to be made.

This thread seems like a thinly veiled attempt to take a jab at "Popular music". If you want to boast about how much better your music is or awesome your favourite band is, go to /mu/ Of course Nicki Minaj makes music, it may be different to your particular tastes but it doesn't mean it isn't real. I don't like her music either, but the album sales speak for themselves.

There's music and then there's music; those songs that move you, bring tears to your eyes, evoke emotions; Nicki Minaj and others similar to her make music, but they don't make anything that can shift your world, change a perspective, or make you feel something deeper. Almost anyone can create music, putting a catchy beat to some witty (or not so witty) words and throwing it out for the public to gobble up but it's a lot more rare to find someone that can make music. (two cents inserted)

For me, music has to be an art. Which is why I don't think most pop music these days is music because it follows a select few formulas that produce music that makes money.

Never did see how random beating and yelling made metal music. Nothing against any other genre.
