In recent seasons of Doctor Who, we've seen things regarding how others view and remember the Doctor. How the Silence perceive the Doctor, how the troops at Demon's Run know the Doctor, Oswin making the Daleks forget the Doctor, etc. We've also seen the Doctor get worn down by the weight of his memories (he's what, 1200 years old at this point?).
As a way of refreshing the series, what if the Doctor's next regeneration was someone tied to a sort of amnesia? What if the Doctor suddenly didn't remember the Daleks, or why they fear him? What if he had to re-learn his own history from other people and sources?
Would that be a cool plot point for a few seasons, or would it just ruin the show?

Doctor Who who? They're only able to regenerate the Doctor one more time, right? I think it'd be interesting if the last Doctor had to essentially rediscover who he is. I'd REALLY love to see him encounter Daleks for the first time (two mortal enemies who can't remember the other).

I think such a plot point was used for the second or third Doctor.

it's a novel idea that'd keep the show alive for a series or two, but in all honesty i doubt it would end up being anything above average.

He's just over 900 years old.

I don't think it would really work out. Amnesia is usually annoying as a plot point, especially when it's a character we already know.

What if the doctor ate an apple? Don't they keep doctors away?

It's already been done. Three and Six both regenerated with memories missing. So did Eight.

I'm now imagining The Bourne Identity except with the Doctor. It's an amusing image to say the least.

I might actually watch it.
