I'm not talking about just here, but on Youtube and Twitter where everyone always goes "SUBSCRIBE SUBSCRIBE SUBSCRIBE" or "ADD ME @YOLOSWAGBASED420SMOKEWEEDERYDAY".
inb4 op only has one follower
Is it annoying or is it just accepted?

I couldn't care less, but the people who do that just make themselves look like fools though.

It really depends. I don't get particularily annoyed when people ask for subscribers. I usually just go on to a new video right at the end, before the whole "Like us on Twitter and Facebook and be sure to subscribe" part. That being said, if they constantly ask for subscriptions or likes, I will get annoyed. I'm not talking about a short "Like and subscribe" pitch at the end if a video, because those are easy to ignore. I am talking about someone who always has a popup asking for likes.

yes it is disgraceful

guis lik dis and follo me pls
-
It's frowned upon. I'd rather work for something than just asking for it.
-
I don't beg people to follow me.
-
Actually, it's just annoying.

Edited by Payola: 1/22/2013 7:25:13 AMWhy would you care about having followers on bnet?
-
I find it really annoying. Please subscribe to my youtube.
-
It's the cheap version of making a commercial for yourself.
-
I never understood why Youtubers always say "like and subscribe" in their videos. Asking for likes I can understand, as it makes your video seem well received, but asking for subscirbers... why? If people enjoy your videos, they'll keep watching regardless. Maybe it's just me, but I don't subscribe to people, I just check periodically to see if there are new videos.

I do it to troll, but not seriously.

Not at all. But I'm a content creator. To someone who is only a viewer, and a consumer, then yes it could be seen as negative, to ask for subscribers. But if I'm confident the content I create is good, then I will tell people they should stick around. In my opinion, with your Youtube example, if someone has 2 videos uploaded and both are garbage....then lol yeah, I think it's really dumb when people ask for subscribers. it's like...why do you want subscribers? I ask people to subscribe and check out my content because I believe I release legitimately good content. So my advice is YES!!! Keep asking for more subscribers and followers. Get you name heard. Influence other people's lives!! In order to do that, you may need to ask for followers once in a while. But hey, this is just my advice. And the end of the day you can do whatever the -blam!- YOU WANNA DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I think you shouldn't go to other people's videos or twitter accounts and post messages like "follow me" or "subscribe" but at the same time I know how hard it can be for people to find an account that doesn't have many views or followers or subscribers. I have a YouTube channel that I do machinima on and the number of subs I have is pretty small because I haven't put anything significant out yet. My worry is that when I do put out my machinima that I am spending so much time on, no one will see it. Businesses and products and companies advertise all the time because that is how people find the products they are looking for. I don't think it should be looked down upon if someone wants to do the same on YouTube as long they have something to offer and they aren't just looking for subscribers and followers just for the sake of having them.

Edited by A 3 Legged Goat: 1/21/2013 10:36:38 PMIf you have something of value, be it information, a product or service, or a unique perspective found nowhere else, people will be inclined to stick around. How you behave in addition to that is what will sweeten the deal, whether you're asking for their loyalty or not.

"If they came to hear me beg, they will be disappointed."
-
Yes it is. If people like what you post, they would already be following you.
-
It depends. If someone is doing a good effort with something and is actually adding something with their contribution, then I don't see why they shouldn't ask for people to help them out as encouragement to continue on what they're doing. If someone is just asking for followers or just wants them for the sake of wanting them, then it's really annoying.
-
I don't beg for followers, or even subscribes/likes on YouTube. I only try to get publicity for my channel. If they want to subscribe or something, that's their business. I don't find it annoying, though.
-
As I see it, the only people who ever do that have self-esteem issues.
-
Maybe. But it's okay, because I don't have to beg. My people flock to me.
-
lolfollowers
-
I ain't no followback girl.
-
Disgraceful? No. I personally would rather not have any but it is what it is.
-
I only follow people on bnet if they fairly consistently post well.
