Today I found out that this really annoying girl who used to follow me on Twitter solely to tell me how much she disliked me has apparently picked up the habit again. This confuses me, because I use Twitter to follow people I like talking to (and also for fangirling the Indianapolis Colts, if I'm going to be honest with myself), and I've never seen the point of hate-following, as it were. If I get to the point where someone on Twitter annoys me with their posts or I'm uninterested in talking to them, I just unfollow them. If people really offend me and won't leave me alone, I'll block them as a last resort.
So I guess my question is: if this girl really dislikes me so much, why wouldn't she just...not go out of her way to read what I say on Twitter? (Or anywhere else, for that matter.) What's the point of following someone you dislike? I don't do it on Twitter or Facebook, and now that following people on BNet is an option, I wouldn't do it here. But maybe I'm missing the point. If I am, explain to me - what's the deal here?

It makes sense, you want to be up to date on someone that you don't like, so you follow them or friend request them or whatever, and it gives you an easier to access link to where they go from then on.

I follow Joey Barton, god nows why.. I don't really get why people want to waste their time like this. I prefer following people I like.
-
People like to bother people that they dislike, I guess.
-
People love to hate. If this person blocked you, they would have no reason to hate you anymore would they? It would really put a damper on their internet experience. Be flattered I suppose. But I bet you already knew this. Did you not?
-
You probably did something wrong to her in the first place. Maybe you deserved it.
-
I don't understand why anyone would follow just an average person anyway, whether they like them or not. I can understand following celebrities and the like, though I don't do it myself, but why would you follow some random person who is really no different from anyone else?

Some people are just so buttmad.

What's her twitter username? Let's get this spamming shit started
-
She's a lonely soul that needs to get laid. If I hate someone, and that takes a lot to do, I avoid them. I don't stalk their every move. That's a childish thing I remember doing when I was 8 years old.

I'm still blocked on twitter :(
-
She wants you.
-
I use it for trolling people and being a crazy son of a bitch.
-
It's because she secretly likes you.
-
Trolling. I occasionally do it for a chuckle, but I usually leave them alone after the first time.
-
I dunno, maybe they're just dumb and crazy. What I don't understand is following a person solely for a follow-back.

Be flattered. Never understood why some people add others they dislike on Facebook either but they do, usually girls though.
-
Ridiculously odd behavior. I'd block her for sure.

Edited by Payola: 1/15/2013 2:42:22 AMYou mad bro?
-
Just block them? Problem solved. Also completely random but that's why I don't get internet bullying, just block them for -blam!- sake.
-
So she follows you but she hates you? Very interesting.
-
Does Twitter not have a block feature? Damn shame.
-
People are following people because they hate them? We should be using this to our advantage. #FAVRE2016 OMFG tag that in every thread gogogogogogo

call her a dyke with a stick up her vagina

To get you mad.
