I'm an introvert, so I don't like being very social. Learning that there wouldn't be matchmaking for raids upset me a bit just because talking to new people can be difficult for me. But all of you guys seem pretty cool, so that makes me feel better about it. :)

Destiny will actually be the first game I play on the PS3. Prior to that, I've only played on the Xbox 360, and I have generally gotten verbal harassment/messages from other players in game. During the beta for Destiny, I didn't realize that no one could hear you if you weren't in a Fireteam! But of those people who I played with randomly, they were extremely welcoming and nice, so I'm hoping there won't be any issues on Destiny. I actually hope that Bungie will not change the chat system to where everyone can hear you. Then I just shut up right away, haha. Otherwise, it's really nice to communicate with other players. A lot easier than sending messages too. Plus, if you don't talk, I'll end up just singing to myself, and you can't tell me to shut up. :3

When it comes to mics and gaming I'm usually more worried about other people in the household being disturbed by my loud voice and the time of day.
-
DCUO has made me a little anti social. That game was full complete idiots. Specially the guys with disturbing conversations, trying to freestyle, and blaming anyone that wasn`t a friend or clanmate. Usally didnnt say anything unless my name was mentioned.

I have a mic but I don't use it often, especially ever since my pc fried. Like some of you I really appreciated the push to talk button. The problem is that when I'm in my zone you might hear something like this: "Blam! I got you man! I got you bad! R u trying to get away from me?! You wait a second, I'll get you... I'll get you alright, come here now,.. coME ON! YES!!! In your blam!ing face! Who's your daddy?! YOU LIKE THAT?! HUH?!" So usually I just stay quiet when I'm live cause some ppl find it rude, or annoying, or both. Usually I come out as really polite and quiet and yes, shy.

I dont like speaking on the telephone much, so I guess that's why I'm shy at first when using a mic. But that goes away after a few minutes.. I am actually curious to see how the raids, with 6 people speaking at the same time, will be haha. I just get quiet when I'm too concentrated, like being attacked by half the hive

Edited by Fhaerron: 8/14/2014 1:40:46 PMI have always been in clans / guilds before where mic usage was required (also the talking). I've been talking since the age 15 while gaming on-line (since then my English was also much better ,)) I don't really "understand" or know why people are shy to talk, I talk all the time, I don't care if it are strangers or clan members, talking helps a ton for much better coordination while gaming. I respect people and they're choices, I just don't understand it. On pc I uses a push to talk key so there is really no "problem" at all, on PS I don't have that but to be honest I don't have a problem they're either.

The only issue I have with mic's on PS4 is how they're always open when in party. Means that at times people end up hearing my vocal reactions to things in game, which can be a little embarrassing.

I agree Kel....But I'm a big mouth old broad so I mic up and jabber. Sometimes, especially the women and some guys will agree, that we've had bad experiences when using mics and some find it distracting if the conversations get too loud or players are addressing those in the room with them instead of the players. But our clan should be friendly and knows the behavior/respect code before joining so if it's an issue for them then they need to find another clan......I would encourage all to try out some new friends on other games to see how the 'fit' is..not everyone will fit with everyone else but it's good now to get into the practice of talking to other clan members before Raids start. If someone is trash talking to you, let me or Stretch know and we'll send them a warning about it. if they continue they risk getting booted out of the clan. I don't see this as too big an issue but get in there Guardians and mix it up ! I always want to chat with whomever is on the PS3 or Xbox 360, so please drop in and say hi to me ! I'm gonna drop in on as many I can, myself....Besides on PS you can change your voice AND it DOESN"T matter if you're a guy playing a female character or a gal playing as a guy character..that's what this clan is all about. It's not a dating site or a shaming site/trolling site....Let us know if you have any problems. But ya gotta talk SOMETIME even it's to say, " Crap, I'm dead will someone PLEASE get my ass back up! ".....I say that ALOT !!! Be well Guardians, Be Bold and Be ruthless in vanquishing our enemies that mean humanity harm and eradication. We are the "WoMen Warriors Clan" !

Edited by ianchow2003: 8/8/2014 3:22:46 PMI do talk when necessary. We Asian are generally shy. Lol. Maybe also cos of English is not our first language and at times, we carry our local accent which makes it harder to communicate with others.
I am a Malaysian Chinese. Can understand and speak Bahasa, English and 5 different Chinese dialect including Mandarin and Cantonese.
i have that issue with the mic that makes me a bit anxious about using it, when i plug it to my comp, the sound quality is crystal clear, and it's more or less the same when i'm trying it out in the accessories menu on my ps3; in game though, when i was playing with my friend, she told me she could barely hear me because of the echo, and she most certainly didn't understand a thing? could it be some kind of a ps' fault?
-
I'm just shy. I get anxious talking to new people I don't know. But I'm hoping to deal with that problem for Destiny. Cuz it'll be worth it.
-
I'm partially deaf and I'm usually shy as hell on the mic because I am worried I'm going to talk over someone or I'm gonna mumble or something. Also, trying to figure out what people are saying distracts me from the game; this is getting better as mics get better but there is always that one person with the crappy mic who ends up jamming the entire room with static. Also, I'm afraid people will hear me bust out in random song the moment I forget the mic is on.
-
I'm not shy and love to hear other people talk usually it's me sort of carrying conversations on between myself and every once in a while some other ppl.
-
Look at it like this find the people that suit u and you personality like me I like people who get in to arguments with me as I like others opinion so you may like a crows of people that understand and are friendly ps (playing solo is a good option)

Edited by Billy: 8/7/2014 5:15:45 PMMy shyness becomes virtually nonexistent in-game. As for bad expiences its called people without respect on cod

The only negative thing I can say about mics is when you have Turtle Beaches or the like and you run into someone with a Kinect as their mic. Kinects emit some sort of ridiculous echo over other headphones and having turtle beaches just intensifies it. Really gives me a headache when I run with someone with a Kinect mic; to the point where I have to mute them :/
