Hello Bungieballaroos! (And anyone else stopping by!)
It would seem that the Bungie.net Web Team has decided that the next iteration of the mobile app will not include access to groups. This decision will affect a large number of established groups here on B.net. Since the inclusion of groups into the mobile app a few years ago, many of the groups in this community have grown by large amount because of the ease of access of a mobile app. Removing this feature will hurt us all. A poll of the users active in Bungieball showed a ratio five mobile users for every PC user.
In order to continue to have access via the app, groups will have to become "Clans". Clans are limited to 100 people. For many groups, including this one, we simply have too many people to make this transition. Even if we did, the cap would severely limit our ability to grow as a community. Some groups are moving offsite to try and continue on, but many of us are not content to have our communities leave the site we have called home for years. We have a history here, and in some groups cases (including Bungieball's) the point of the group is far too niche to survive outside of the Bungie.net community.
I'm proposing we put together the highest quality Bungieball comic we can possibly make.
The more people who collaborate, the better. We need to convince the web team that their is some value to these groups, and that it is worth continuing to allow group access via the app.
We're going to need writers and artists. I would like to start off the comic by showing how dependent groups like Bungieball are on mobile access, and everything that we've done over the past few years. We can show them that a thriving community exists, not just here at Bungieball, but elsewhere too. Show them that we are people, and that these communities where we talk, produce art, and hold game nights have some sort of value. We are not trying to anger or insult the web team for what we believe is a bad decision. We are here to demonstrate our value on this site. Let's give it our all. Standard Bungieball art styles rules are in effect. Help anyone (politely) if you see them drifting from this. If we absolutely need to break the art-style rules, I'll be the one to approve it. Let's try and get this done before the end of the upcoming working week so the Web and Community Teams have time to see this.
We may not be the biggest community on here, but we may just be able to make a difference. I'm going to attempt to reach out to other groups to help spread awareness and maybe pick up some help. Remember, this is a positive thing. Let's show the Web Team what this community is about!
UPDATES:
Mobile Access to Group Walls is staying! Sadly, Group Forums will not be accessible on mobile. We're going to shift our focus a bit on putting this thing together, so expect some minor delays. But really, the biggest issue at hand has officially fallen in our favor!
I don't know if this petition is still necessary, on the latest TWAB they said that the group wall function will still be accessible on the mobile app, but some of the features like the forums are not, but will still be usable on the web version. I know that the majority of our communication happens in the group message, so the changes they are adding won't really affect us.

Just another reason to use Discord.

My reply is some of my favorites, for those who may not have seen any Bungieball comics. Balls are community members, they can be Bungie employees, mods or individuals (with a few generic exceptions). The comics are about our community; be it something that actually happened, or what we're chatting about, or just some light-hearted fun aimed at another member (in this case Ktan lol, love you pal) and more. The one thing they all have in common is Bungie.net which is why places like Discord just won't do. I don't care how good another place is, THIS is our home. http://i.imgur.com/50SdnuS.png http://imgur.com/7Omg7PL http://imgur.com/Y809VNV http://imgur.com/cbtIcbI http://i.imgur.com/XBDkxKC.png This is the tiniest of examples, there are many more.

Let's make a petition, it'll solve nothing, but will make us feel safe.
-
Also, ARDENT is a pretty big one.

1. http://i.imgur.com/uVQtVmF.jpg 2. http://i.imgur.com/Rj5IFeh.jpg I've got two drafts here for a cover. The difference between the two is the cast shadow. One idea I have is to take the comics we make and post them in the bottom where I have it sectioned into 5 parts. I want the comics to appear as if they have reflecting light bouncing off of them and can show a glimpse of each strip. Any thoughts?

I lack any artistic talent, but you can have my support. <3

Edited by Ahhsenberg: 7/30/2017 5:43:42 PMThere's really not any large community groups left after the disarray they've been left in over all these years. It's obvious Bungie intended for groups to be Destiny clans and that they are trying to promote in-game involvement. Clans won't protest because they are all online together, as such the in-game push for clan features, so I doubt this will go anywhere. We all know Reddit/Discord took over anyway... people will deal with the changes and continue to move on. I wish you luck on trying to save anything related to groups/Bnet old, though.

Just change your group to a clan or use discord.

Bamp!

Bump and supported
-
I really wish they'd leave things the way they are. Bump for awareness
-
Bump. but also if it ends up being necessary Discord is a great alternative.

link Here's a storyboard idea I had for a patient undergoing a "routine" operation. Read from left to right, first row then second row.
Dialogue: "But I don't understand doc. I feel fine!" "It's simply a standard operating procedure." "Bu-" "This is going to keep you alive. Don't you want that? "I'm not so sure, doc." "Why's that?" "I mean, that's a pretty sizable amount you're taking out." *sighs* "It's going to make you sleek, fast and beautiful. You'll be brand new." "But I kinda like the old me." "This world is moving much faster. Everyone needs to keep up, to stay afloat. We can't leave anybody behind." "But doc... "You're leaving me behind." (In final background, grave is being dug while 2017 model is shipped in. Gravestone reads here lies The Septagon)
Bungie killing off groups is the final stage of them getting rid of the old site last bastion

This shouldn't have even been considered as a option for Bungie, SAVE MOBILE GROUP ACCESS!

Just a question so I can understand a bit better, the endgame is making a bungieball comic that cosmo can show to the web team to convince them to not remove groups from mobile, right?
-
I am unfamiliar with this art form, but I do recognize the importance and urgency of the message. I'll get to work.
-
Do you think it's as easy as flipping a switch? They're removing groups from mobile for a technical reason. I can almost guarantee that decision won't be reversed by launch.
-
Getting the finger-paints out! Masterpiece incoming.
-
Agreed
-
Y tho. Seems like a downgrade, removing group access. Weirdos.
