Riddle of the Dark
Hello everyone, it's me again! So soon after my weekly event, I know. But I had a challenge for all of you Riddlers out there:
This riddle may seem easy at first, but there is a hidden twist. You must explain [b][u]every single aspect of the riddle[/u][/b] in your answer. I will tell you if you got the correct answer, but no credit for you unless you have a [b][u]full and thorough explanation[/u][/b]. Here we go!
Who/What am I?
A Shredder or Boomer is a powerful weapon, but not as powerful as me. It was through me that the satellite cracked, and the light banished. One touch, and death would take you. But then he slept. I slept. While deep in our slumber, my body was destroyed. But now we have returned. Come to us, guardian. The hammer of the godless did not strike you down, but I will. And I will remember. Eternity is so very near. And I am the doorway.

[b]Answer:[/b] The Sword of Crota
[b]Explanation:[/b]
[spoiler][i]A Shredder or Boomer is a powerful weapon, but not as powerful as me.[/i] This refers not only to the Hive's arsenal in comparison to Crota's sword, but also as a reference to the Ascendant Sword grimoire card.
[i]It was through me that the satellite cracked, and the light banished.[/i] Thanks to his sword, Crota was able to crack the Moon and push away the Guardians.
[i]One touch, and death would take you. But then he slept. I slept.[/i] The Sword of Crota was said to have 'eaten' the Light of any Guardian it touched. After the Great Disaster, Crota slept.
[i]While deep in our slumber, my body was destroyed. But now we have returned.[/i] You destroyed the Sword of Crota while Crota slept, but with the Dark Below he has returned.
[i]Come to us, guardian. The hammer of the godless did not strike you down, but I will.[/i] Crota and his sword wait in Crota's End. Atheon's Torch Hammer, didn't kill you, but Crota's Ascendant Sword will.
[i]And I will remember. Eternity is so very near. And I am the doorway.[/i] Another reference to the Ascendant Sword grimoire card. The Crux of Crota is obtained by destroying Crota and his sword, and with that you can make the Necrochasm.[/spoiler]
Shoutout to Sporillium for almost getting it. Perfect explanation, except for the 'And I will remember' line!

Edited by astralouroboros: 7/27/2015 7:31:12 AMwithout looking down to see the coments it is the sword of crota, the first part refers to the hive arsenal, the satelight and light banishment refers to crota cracking the moon and all the guardians dying in the battle, the touch refers to instant death of most enemies or guardians upon getting hit with the blade, the destruction during his sleep is the mission we take to destroy his sword, the hammer of the godless refers to atheon and his torch hammer,the weapon is close to eternity and it is the doorwy because so many guardians have died to it thus it takes the title for its part in sheparding them to the other side and it remembers us because something to do with how if we die the mark we leave on the blade will stay there for eternity, possible referance to how no matter what you cut the finest blade will still dull over time, that or the fact that the sword devours the light of guardians and how the sword was said to have a life of its own during the mission to destroy it(memory of that is shoddy) for some reason it wont let me copy the other stuff i said in the message do i win

3 Replies[b]Sword of Crota[/b] Crota's sword is far more powerful than a boomer or shredder cause he can kill you in one hit with the sword. When he kills you with the sword the satellite aka the oversoul opens up and banishes your light cause u die One touch and death will take you cuz it's a one hit kill (duh) While Crota and his sword slept we killed Crota's soul in that Eris morn story mission but obviously he came back The hammer of the godless is talking about atheon and it didn't strike us down so now the sword of Crota will. Also hammer and sword are both melee weapons. Maybe just coincidence Eternity is so near is talking about the neceochasm "eternity is so close, do you feel yourself slipping" and he is a doorway because when you defeat Crota and his sword you get the Crux of Crota (dat RNG tho)

4 RepliesSword of Crota: The Sword has taken more lives than either a boomer or a shredder. The satellite in question is the Moon, which was crack when the hive fought the Guardians and 'banished the light'. The sword would drain Guardians of their light and kill them with a single touch. But then Crota slept, and the sword went unused. You destroy it in 'The Sword of Crota' story mission. But they have come back in Crota's raid. Atheon did not kill you, but Crota believes that he will. You also need to kill him for Necrochasm, since he is the only one that drops the crux of Crota. I hope that's everything...

Satellite refers to moons (specifically ours) and how crota cracked it. [quote]One touch, and death would take you.[/quote] The sword one hit kills you. [quote]But then he slept. I slept. The sword of crota didn't kill you so I (Oryx) will. Death is near. The end.
