I just want to thank you. There are a lot of people that have the skills and time to do the hard mode raid, but not many that will then take the time to invite complete strangers into their fireteams and possibly give away Exotic weapons to people who never earned them. And in this case, I mean that word... because it applies to me too. Tonight I got a Hawkmoon that I did nothing whatsoever for except press a button. I didn't defeat a single Harpy or Praetorian. I just jumped some cliffs and pushed the button and then I danced.
A lot of people on this forum would get butthurt over the idea of "giving away" weapons to the undeserving. But I'm glad that there are people like you who are generous with your time and effort. I will pay it forward if I ever have the chance. I already try to help people through whatever I can to get them the coins, shards, nightfall rewards, whatever they need help with, but mine is on a tiny scale compared to you helping the entire community.
So... Thanks again. You are the best, and I don't know why you do it... but at least I can give you my appreciation.
Special shout-out to SYale2010, and thanks again for the Hawkmoon-producing chest!
EDIT: And a community thanks to all those who send invites to be "in on the kill" and potentially get a reward without going through the hour or so of raid prior to that. You're also great Guardians, and you make me proud of our community.
To those who say this is rewarding "scrubs": guess what- every Exotic put into a player's hands increases the capability of a Guardian somewhere, and makes him or her a more effective member of the team- so it's in EVERYBODY'S interests to get those good guns out there and into action. Today's "scrub" (Oh, how I hate that word you use) is tomorrow's fireteam leader. You started somewhere, too, and don't forget it.
EDIT 2: SUNDAY MORNING 9:19 EST
MrWahblah on PS4 is hosting one right now, see his post
https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/99659255/0/0
which I am bumping up here at his request so it doesn't get buried. Please note that you can only get the chest once per week, so for people like me it is just a visit to the "jumping route" for the Gorgon cave. While I was there, someone got Red Death and I thought I saw a Last Word but I am not sure.
EDIT 3:
I'm delighted to see the number of people posting their thanks to the generous Raiders in our community, and I was told personally (over chat on PSN) that my post produced at least one player who decided to share his checkpoint and see what people would get from the chest. Thanks again. After all the bitching about Xur and heavy ammo, I needed this reminder of why I come to the forum. There are a ton of good people here, you're just quiet.
I'm gonna go practice with the Hawkmoon now.
