As a 32 you should be capable...
Last night, I was finishing up my Atheon kills on all my characters to end the week.
First two went smoothly, then I went on my 32 hunter and found a random team. (yes shoot me I don't have friends on all the time)
The team consisted of 3 32's 2 31's and a 30. I should not have assumed, but did that at least 2 people will be able to handle the relic. Turns out, we spent an hour and never got it done because I was teleported once everytime, the second time the relic holder always died.
As a 32, you should be able to handle the relic on atheon and on the templar. Some of you might say "but we never get the chance to". Go into normal mode and train yourself.
Some of you also might say "oh ha, scrub you should get him in one go anyway". Tell that to the people that think word of crota/plan c is doing a lot of damage on Atheon.
Point is, 32's AND 31's AND 30's should be able to or at least try handling the relic. It's not really that hard.
What do you guys think? I want to hear your thoughts on those that have had the same problem as me or from the people that haven't learned how to use the relic.

I'm a 32. Only done VOG a few times. Everyone is super cereal and no one has ever been open to "I'm not good with the relic, but I'd love to learn...wanna give me a few practice rounds before we move on?" One team said sure and gave me two wipes then got pissed and ran the relic on their own. I get where you are coming from, but people like you are actually the problem. Instead of throwing up the hate on the forums ask everyone in your group of they can run the relic. Then teach the ones that don't. Snobbery isn't going to elevate the community.

Yes. I took it on Templar and had little problems, Atheon went a little shaky. Ended up getting crap, no one got exotics of vex that run

I've never needed to use the relic on the Templar, but have no trouble with using it for the Gatekeeper/Atheon.

Me personally I just don't like to have everyone's success depending on me not -blam!-ing up. Especially when I've had .05 seat time with the relic/sword. It's really more of a time issue in my opinion for me, not speaking for anyone else. I'm awesome at oracles though and can practically do them blind lol.

2 RepliesI love the relic, sword, whatever. It is a blast. Not to mention sword bearers on Crota don't have to worry about heavy synths. That. Is awesome. If I grab any heavy, I get to use it on swordbearer. It's nice.

I have a 31. I know how to use it, not perfect at it. I tell my team I know, but use me as a last resort. I only use it If I have too.

I've timed it to the point where when and if I get teleported, I pick up relic no matter what. Usually as long as I get it, we beat Atheon the first or second round everytime. It's always good to have spare relic holders though.

2 RepliesI just tell ppl straight out that I have limited experience using the relic. If there's someone better by all means go for it. What I can't stand is some elitist who keeps saying,"aww come on who died its not that hard" every time. Considering ive already seen the same "elitist" im referring to die himself by falling off the map. Sh*t happens I guess?

I totally agree. I've always been in a raid team that has a sword carrier. So I don't get to carry it much. But I always want to do it. There is a fine line tho because some people don't have time to help someone get good at the sword. I'm stuck in between. If you have time to help a fellow guardian learn. I'll always help teams run the sword. Even after I've completed the runs on both my 32's. Help me help you.

4 RepliesWhenever I join a random Atheon hard group my first question is always "we throw grenades on Venus, don't throw anything on Mars right?" The group either says - Duh (usually experienced group) - Huh? (Noobs, who better shut up and listen to how it's done otherwise I'm bailing) - Uh ya man, of course (It's a Trap!!! Bail on that group immediately)

A 30 should be able to hold the relic just as well as a 32.

Considering we were running VoG hard as lvl 29 and lvl 30s before TDB there is no excuse for not being able to do VoG as a 31 or 32. I was in a horrible fireteam of 32s and 2 31s, thinking it would be a walk in the park. It was a nightmare. I had ended up having to solobportals everytime on the gatekeeper because noone knew what they were doing.

That's what happens when people get gear without the experience to go with it, and don't have the common sense to realize that they still need to learn/understand the raid. The relic is pretty easy to use: Grab the thing. Smash the ads (a little help with the minotaur is nice). Cleanse the guys hitting oracles a few times. Exit, get to platform, and hold button for the shield. Rinse and Repeat.

I literally had my freinds just sit in the game so I practiced with relic for like 2 hours till I had it down.

Im comfortable with the relic on atheon, unless its not glitching. Never used it on templar. T.T same with crota, never had the chance to be swordbearer.

That's what vendor gear does.. but if your that level and have made it that far before, you should know how to hold the relic, normal mode with some 27s ok that's fine but hard mode everybody should know how to do every job

I agree people gotta stop being scared to use the relic or sword. Step up and watch some videos. Learn how to. That's how I taught myself.

2 RepliesOn Atheon, the relic holder only job is to cleanse and take out little mobs in Venus. Hunter can take care of the mars with his golden gun and a nova bomb and fist of havoc or golden gun can take care of the Venus minotaur. Just let relic holder take care of the small mobs in Venus. If you let relic holder kill all mobs on both side, you doing it wrong.
