As a 32 you should be capable...
Last night, I was finishing up my Atheon kills on all my characters to end the week.
First two went smoothly, then I went on my 32 hunter and found a random team. (yes shoot me I don't have friends on all the time)
The team consisted of 3 32's 2 31's and a 30. I should not have assumed, but did that at least 2 people will be able to handle the relic. Turns out, we spent an hour and never got it done because I was teleported once everytime, the second time the relic holder always died.
As a 32, you should be able to handle the relic on atheon and on the templar. Some of you might say "but we never get the chance to". Go into normal mode and train yourself.
Some of you also might say "oh ha, scrub you should get him in one go anyway". Tell that to the people that think word of crota/plan c is doing a lot of damage on Atheon.
Point is, 32's AND 31's AND 30's should be able to or at least try handling the relic. It's not really that hard.
What do you guys think? I want to hear your thoughts on those that have had the same problem as me or from the people that haven't learned how to use the relic.

2 RepliesI'm always surprised whenever I come across 32s who can't handle relic. And I assume since the team is usually always 30+ killing atheon would be a breeze but sometimes it isn't cause they don't know what they're doing. ._.

6 RepliesWhat is also annoying is when nobody shoots the minotaur on Venus. We get teleported to Venus, I grab the relic, call that we are on Venus, and then tell my teammates to damage the minotaur. As I keep running towards it, I see no bullets, tell them once again to damage it and only see one grenade fly towards him that completely misses and I wind up dying to the minotaur. Then they want to know why we wiped.

Agreed. It's frustrating playing with a bunch of randoms at 31-32 and none of them know how to use the relic.

It's clear to most of us whom were there at launch that Max light lvl no longer denotes mastery of the various skills required to play the more trying challenges of this game. A Max lvl guardians used to be not only powerful, but also skilled. It was earned through grinding raid and memorizing strategies. Yes there was cheese back then but it was modified to the version we all play today. Multiple portions regardless of the cheese still required teamwork and a know how of raid mechanics. I point the finger at bungie for making it far to easy to reach 30+. I understand there are new players and we all welcome them to the community, but we expect you to go through our trials and gain the skill we EARNED before you ask for handouts. We aren't willing to baby some of your because in the end you turn out as unskilled players. We want to help you, but some of us are impatient and grumpy after the trials of this game. All "I'm" asking of the new players is that you first learn through experience. Adults who play this game know nothing in life is free and that no one is just gunna give you handouts. We couldn't rush through levelling in this game an neither should you. Do the full process of learning Normal with the many other people on this forum complaining no one will help them. Then come to us on Hard and ask for help.

Another factor to consider are the bugs. Atheon has bugs that makes being a relic holder tough sometimes. Like minotaurs regaining full shield after one hit. And kills everyone. Not blaming it all on the bugs cause yea there's a lot of people who sucks at it me included lol. But yeah everyone need to learn the relic

I love being relic holder. Not everyone does though, and i get that, but everyone should get practice with the relic. I find sometimes random shit happens though, and its no ones fault. For example, at the templar, when put in the detainment shield, most of the time a jump smash breaks it, sometimes it doesn't (if this happens drop the relic and shoot, do not use r1/rb). At atheon in mars portal, occasionally when 2 of the hobgoblins are spread out it can be real difficult to get the one out of the bunch. I'd just suggest shooting rockets to help the relic holder (don't throw grenades).

True. I admit I still struggle sometimes running relic on Templar because up until they fixed the grenade cheese, I never did it legit lol but I still get the job done

For me, it took about 5 games to get the relic down. I'm not talking about what I had to do, that seemed pretty simple. Pick it up, kill the enemies, cleanse. That was simple. The hardest part of the relic was getting the physics down. At game 6, i was destroying oracles with it, taking out the hobgoblins on mars in one shot, even getting my way around the "healing" Minotaur on the steps. When crotas end came out, it was the same thing. The hardest part about being the sword bearer in CE is the fact you will die in 1 hit on hard mode, and Crota moves, really, really fast.

I would say I am very experienced with the relic as I have used it since day one of the VoG opening. I can handle being down on the lower part during the Templar phase while the rest of my team snipes. Blink and Relic is a good combo... Just btw. I can use the relic at Atheon as it is extremely easy; however, I typically like to Nova Bomb what ever exists at the bottom of the stairs so that the Relic holder has a much smoother time.

I forgot to mention this in my other post, but there was a level 29 with no vog raid weapons in a raid team I was on earlier this week. Not only that, but the weapon he was using in his primary slot was a blue weapon. Whenever he was teleported we would die due to oracles. We eventually just sent someone in to help with oracles whenever he was teleported once we found out his situation, but the process took way longer than it should've. There's almost no excuse for going into either hm raid without at least a legendary gun. Youre not going into the raid prepared otherwise.

If youre a level 30 or above you should have no issue with vog. Ive been playong this game since launch and I remember when hard vog was not only completed, but easily completed with only 30s and 29s. Now I can have a full group of 32s and not know if we are gonna make it past the confluxes because most people cant stay alive through defending just the left and right conflux. Then if you do make it through that part you font know if anyone besides yourself can handle the relic. If you cant solo venus and mars and you are a 32 then you need to practice. This raids enemies max out at level 30! ThAt means you are two levels above them!

I know man. About two or three weeks ago, I played with a group of 32. I am still 31 though. majority of them couldn't stay alive. We spent hours trying to kill Atheon. I had to find a new team. Majority of the times, I always want relic, because I can't trust randoms sometimes. And I'm not a relic god. I die occasionally if its Hard VoG. Sometimes that minotaur just teleports all over the place and I have to be going back and forth, and them hobgoblins great with them snipers. Hahaha. And also, sometimes the guy with the relic doesn't realize he can kill oracles as well. He can jump and hit or use the super.

The hard VoG should not be attempted by anyone who hasn't at least done it on normal regardless of level.

Thats what happens when a majority of the community cheeses their way to level 32 or can buy vanguard gear that puts them one level below max... it sucks because you cant tell the good players apart from the cheesers

you can't expect ppl to if they've never done it. Crotas end is pure cheese mode easy loot. VoG mechanics and fights are more challenging. 30's should be easy mode in VoG hard. I did it as a 29 til DLC.
