As a 32 you should be capable...
Last night, I was finishing up my Atheon kills on all my characters to end the week.
First two went smoothly, then I went on my 32 hunter and found a random team. (yes shoot me I don't have friends on all the time)
The team consisted of 3 32's 2 31's and a 30. I should not have assumed, but did that at least 2 people will be able to handle the relic. Turns out, we spent an hour and never got it done because I was teleported once everytime, the second time the relic holder always died.
As a 32, you should be able to handle the relic on atheon and on the templar. Some of you might say "but we never get the chance to". Go into normal mode and train yourself.
Some of you also might say "oh ha, scrub you should get him in one go anyway". Tell that to the people that think word of crota/plan c is doing a lot of damage on Atheon.
Point is, 32's AND 31's AND 30's should be able to or at least try handling the relic. It's not really that hard.
What do you guys think? I want to hear your thoughts on those that have had the same problem as me or from the people that haven't learned how to use the relic.

That's the problem, you can be 32 and never have done vog. So no I don't expect 32s to be good with relic, however after a few wipes I would expect them to get better and better

4 RepliesI completely agree. I spent like 2 hours last reset trying to get people to finish it. The saddest part was that we had all 32s and 1 31 and they couldn't kill the -blam!-ing oracles! How sad is that? I can't hold relic and kill oracles. Shit!

6 RepliesI'm a 32 and I've never done vog. Never wanted to raid. Simple fact is that many prefer solo play to dealing with elitist blam's on lfg. I can do most of ce without relying on any of my friends to be online. I didn't even look at raiding until recently so I actually want to learn all of the vog roles but assuming I know them without a simple question is asinine. Just ask if people know the fights. Move on guardian.

The VoG has been out for months now, and for those who always go to LFG, and post for " Atheon Checkpoint," but have never got the relic, is a mystery on its own. I know, I know, "but Fearless, the VoG is old now.." Yeah, that's my point. Vog has been out long enough for people to get experience with the relic, no excuses (unless your a Christmas Noob, then your ok). And as far as CE' HM, we (32's) should be well on our way, to run sword (efficiently) every time when the opportunity presents itself...

8 RepliesYou do realise that being 31/32 in vog only affects you defence stat? Marginally at that. Your damage is still capped at 30 so expecting the 31/32s in your team to out perform the 30s is just dumb, you should be sending the people with the best weapons for the job.

Because of the cheesy normal mode Crota scrubs were able to easily get to 32. It wouldn't suprise me if they were Christmas noobs who never really did VoG, went straight to Crota, cheesed it all and got to 32. That's one reason I can think of. Blame Bungie for enabling noobs to hit max level.

1 ReplyYesterday I ran VoG with 32's who had never opent the Vault and did not know what to do at confluxes. Oracle's what?! Ow damn cannot be revided?! Also from six guys I was the only one to start the hardmode since no one played normal mode first. I don't mind playing with newbs, if was quite funny at times (jump puzzle)

Then when they're required to hold the relic in hard, they get rekt. Mistakes are punished much harsher. I assume a lot of the vets aren't doing it any more.

Protip for running with the relic at Atheon. When you get teleported and you have the relic. See that wall divide in the middle of the stairs? Go to the right side of that and run at the enemy. The enemy will take longer to realize you are there. Also, always ground slam minotaurs the first time but use shoulder bashes after. Speaking of shoulder bashes, do not ever use regular melee attacks, shoulder bash is better with the relic. Honestly though, 31s and 32s should be comfortable enough with the relic. And please for the love of god when you kill the oracles, bring weapons with oracles disruptor (except fatebringer, unless you have explosive rounds on it) Or bring high impact versions of the weapon classes you want to use. Perferably with extended magazines. High impact heavy machine guns and fusion rifles, if you have it bring super good advice, oracles don't count as an enemy target therefore almost al your rounds get returned to the mag as you fire with it.

3 RepliesI agree! I love using the relic makes me feel like a boss. I don't understand how you can't use it? Go on google read the tips and buttons, grab that thing and smash!!!! No one gets annoyed if you die 1-2 times, sometimes s-it happens and in them 1 or 2 tries you should have a good feel for using it!!

I can do Relic for Templar and in the portals fine, though I generally leave it for whoever wants it. If I get teleported, I wait a second to see if anyone else grabs, if not, I do right away. Basically, just long enough to call which side, then grab. More than enough time for anyone wanting to grab the thing. I'm not comfortable being the swordbearer in the Crota fight though. But, I have a Galla, so I get off with shield stripping duty.

14 RepliesFusion rifles can do damage, as a "32" you should know that. If your using ghorn and you have time after 7 shots are gone you can easily do 1500 damage with a fusion rifle which, if you do the math. 1500 x 6 = 9k damage which is just as good as anything else. Plus I believe light in the abyss does way more than that. A 32 should know that.

I find that a lot of people go into hard VOG and don't have the guns to kill the oracles. Then we have to send someone into the gate to help them.

1 ReplyDoesn't matter what level you are. If you have run the VoG, you should at some point learned how to use the relic (not that difficult) Level is no indicator of anything since Bungie broke what should have been the logical chain of progression. This is why I sometimes ask people to show me maxed VoG armour or atleast the helmet when I want a very quick run. When everyone has that, the raid from Templar onwards takes less than 15 minutes.
