Last night, I was finishing up my Atheon kills on all my characters to end the week.
First two went smoothly, then I went on my 32 hunter and found a random team. (yes shoot me I don't have friends on all the time)
The team consisted of 3 32's 2 31's and a 30. I should not have assumed, but did that at least 2 people will be able to handle the relic. Turns out, we spent an hour and never got it done because I was teleported once everytime, the second time the relic holder always died.
As a 32, you should be able to handle the relic on atheon and on the templar. Some of you might say "but we never get the chance to". Go into normal mode and train yourself.
Some of you also might say "oh ha, scrub you should get him in one go anyway". Tell that to the people that think word of crota/plan c is doing a lot of damage on Atheon.
Point is, 32's AND 31's AND 30's should be able to or at least try handling the relic. It's not really that hard.
What do you guys think? I want to hear your thoughts on those that have had the same problem as me or from the people that haven't learned how to use the relic.
-
Why use a fusion rifle on atheon is the first question that came to my mind there.
-
Once i got teleported only with another person and after i killed the hobglobins i cleansed him and switched to my gjallarhorn because we weren't fast enough before that i said don't pick up the relic He did and couldn't cleanse so we died
-
I have fun with the relic. But yeah there's to many high level people out there who would rather complain about how you suck and its your fault rather than man up and learn. Self entitled Dbags. With sword also. But thats why i like playing with lower level people. The "mostly" tend to listen to the high level guy then you can teach them. May take a few wipes but its always better in the end because now you have more than 1 person who can use the relic.
-
As long as you help with the Minotaur on Venus I don't care.
-
I agree completely, I've been in groups where I would just solo both the relics at the Gatekeeper because I was tired of the wipes. I'd grab the 1st relic, drop it for someone and then grab the next for myself. Also even on hard theres no reason a 31/32 should be constantly going down.
-
Agree on Atheon since you never know who is teleported, but templar may be a stretch. After dark below, don't have time to run full VoG on 3 characters. Only ran templar for a friend who didn't have fatebringer, which he does now, and Atheon. Now just the gorgons for exotic chest and Atheon if I can find the Cp. On templar, I ran it almost always with the same group of friends. The same guy would always run relic at that part. It would rarely switch as he was beast with it. Would I know what to do as experienced relic holder on Atheon? Sure, but it would probably take a few word at least. Point being, most people rely on one or two at templar, if they play it at all. Atheon, though, should definitely be learned. You never know who might be transported.

Edited by Lordsa Jar-Jar: 2/8/2015 11:47:56 AMOmg, simple -blam!-ing answer to all this bullshit. TAKE THE RELIC YOURSELVES! PROBLEM SOLVED! If you can't do it, you have no right to expect someone to do it for you.
-
Had the same problem last night. Like wtf it's a shame if you're 30+ and not know how to use it.

Edited by AJIc3CoLd: 2/8/2015 11:18:20 AMCheck the Grimoire, man. It's not an indication of skill but it is indication of experience. 2000-2100, you'll have your work cut out for you.

One day, I decided I wanted to run a few raids for grimoire progress. My group and I can get hard VOG done in a little under an hour with maybe a handful of wipes. I figured for the sake of grimoire it would be safe to run it on normal with randoms on my 32 Hunter. First group I joined at Atheon had no idea what they were doing and when I asked 'Has anyone here done this before?' Their response was '-blam!- yeah f*g, look at my flawless raider trophy!' And then they proceeded to laugh like idiots. Needless to say, I left. Dicks. Second group were a group of really nice British guys who wanted to do the whole thing. I was informed that one of them had never run before - I was alright with this, and told him we could work with it no problem. It took us an hour and a half to get to Atheon with a handful of wipes. Atheon hit and... Holy crap, these dudes could not figure out how to use the relic, even when I slowed down and explained everything to them. They told me they understood and proceeded to talk over me when I tried to give them pointers veery politely. I got teleported 3 times out of MANY attempts. I figured maybe they just needed to play a few rounds to get in the hang of the rotations, etc. NOPE. 2 hours later and we couldn't get past a single rotation. The dudes were level 30 and 31... And this was on NORMAL. There is no excuse. Please educate yourself on what is going to happen by watching YouTube tutorials or reading some of the great tutorials here on b.net. Or at least, at the very least, be willing to listen to people who have run it before and can help you. It still boggles my mind that we couldn't beat it with 3 31's, 2 30's, and a 32, especially considering myself and 3 of my friends 4 man normal VOG on occasion.

Plan c does do alot of damage But you should be using black hammer..
-
I could do it when i was lvl 29. I'm only 30 now
-
Honestly, the ONLY thing you can fairly assume based on level is that 32's have experience on Crota normal.
-
Yeah man, bugs me. Very few have relic and sword xp. Those "need 32 hunter for sword" requests crack me up.
-
LFGed Atheon with random groups. 3 times last night. Ppl have gotten very good at the fight but most are still scared of the relic. It's like a friggen hot potato. Teleport And it's like u no u? No me? No u? Me? No u? Me? Me? Oh ok that guy got it thank gawd. R1 R2 R1 R2 stuns Pretorion kills Pretorion profit.
-
Level has nothing to do with it as its capped at 30, but you would assume someone at level 31 and 32 would know what to do. There are plenty of 31s that have never attempted either raid.
-
This is why I think you should get an item after completing at least 5 fresh VOG runs in order to unlock hard and the same for hard mode in order to move on to crotas end normal and hard or something of the sort
-
Level does not = experience or skill in this game. One of the problems...
-
30 or 32 Same damage on atheon.
-
I was running the Relic as a 29. It's do-able quite easily. I feel though that people don't use it as much because they fear that they might look stupid and be mocked so it's easier to let another take the job. People shouldn't mock, instead we should show compassion, as making fun of these individuals will only deter them further, from taking the job in future run throughs.
-
I pretty much mastered the relic by the third VoG run I did. It really isn't hard at all. I prefer being the relic holder now.
-
Yes. Everyone should atleast know how to handle the relic. It doesnt matter how much damage you can do too atheon, if you cant get there. Everyone should be able too and decide in-game who will do it.
-
Im a 31 and im a great relic holder. On hard and normal
-
To each their own.... no matter if you level 2 or 32 hand eye coordination is always a factor in this game as well as skill and smarts. Why? Someone who has been playing the game since launch may never be able to learn how to use relic because they can't think fast enough to make the right decisions or they don't learn from mistakes or they can't learn from us teaching them. This game should have GPA.
-
I always hold the relic and always am the sword bearer. People are scared as hell of these things. I don't know why. It gets annoying no one wants to use them then get pissy if you get killed using them
-
I've seen a 32 with less than 1000 grimoire... How is that even possible? Remember when being 30 meant something?
