Last night, I was finishing up my Atheon kills on all my characters to end the week.
First two went smoothly, then I went on my 32 hunter and found a random team. (yes shoot me I don't have friends on all the time)
The team consisted of 3 32's 2 31's and a 30. I should not have assumed, but did that at least 2 people will be able to handle the relic. Turns out, we spent an hour and never got it done because I was teleported once everytime, the second time the relic holder always died.
As a 32, you should be able to handle the relic on atheon and on the templar. Some of you might say "but we never get the chance to". Go into normal mode and train yourself.
Some of you also might say "oh ha, scrub you should get him in one go anyway". Tell that to the people that think word of crota/plan c is doing a lot of damage on Atheon.
Point is, 32's AND 31's AND 30's should be able to or at least try handling the relic. It's not really that hard.
What do you guys think? I want to hear your thoughts on those that have had the same problem as me or from the people that haven't learned how to use the relic.
-
Yeah. I've 3 31's. still working on a 32. I can handle the relic just fine. I played with a group Friday night and we spent an hour on aetheon alone and never finished it. 32's should have no problem. However, I am still looking for an opportunity to run the sword. Most people just wanna rush through it or just recruit a sword bearer for the raid rather than learning to do it. I'd like to learn myself. Anyway. Point is that you don't have a choice on aetheon so, keep that end game in mind.

Edited by Blank: 2/9/2015 5:49:30 AMPeople who lie about experience get booted. People who have no relic experience for HARD get booted. People who make excuses on why they can't help shoot orcales or use the relic GET BOOTED. People who are 30+ with no relic experience get booted. I don't mess around when it comes to experienced players, sorry. Shoot me for wanting to get my raid done in an hour or less. Not hard to make a post about learning the basics for VoG, Crota.
-
Why don't people want to learn how to use relic? The relic is one of the best parts of the raid.

Edited by Nuramaru: 2/9/2015 2:41:28 PMYour not the only one helped a group that took forever to get it done. I have relic experience and it wasn't even teleporting me at all. When I finally do Venus bugs Minotaur gets his random reborn ability and rocks my shit. I would definitely destroy that bitch with a rocket if the ransoms would know how to use the relic. Also to add I got it done just for chatter white and energies.

Edited by BlackMarvels: 2/9/2015 2:25:01 PMTrue also as 32 easy to just kill the ads before relic even gets down there lol I'm on xbone if you need a guy I'm game I love the vault

I agree with a lot of people below that unless you have a group willing to wait for you to learn, it is a bitch. The only thing that I would say is maybe you shouldn't be an expert at it, but as a 30-32, you should at least know the basics and have an understanding of how to use each, or if you haven't done it before at all, listen to people who have. That's what gets me upset. I helped a crew out that recruited me in the tower, all of them 30 or 31, to do a VOG normal. I told them to grab the relic so they can learn. Not one of them listened to what I was trying to tell them and after about an hour and a half I said guys I'm out. I didn't want to grab the relic and do it, they wouldn't have learned anything but after that long, I ran out of patience. I'm all for helping people, but I'm not for carrying them unless their a friend.

At the templar part is your best place to learn. Learn the buttons, kill some shite, use your shield. Heck have the whole team use it there. Better undrr those circumstances than trying to learn at aethon

Well stop inviting random people then. You think we want to spend our free time sanding around in the boring as hell raids? We do it cause you people keep inviting us and Bungie has decided its going to be the only thing worth doing so you might as well give it a go. So you end up listening to some tryhard nerd rage around thinking he's a boss while the rest of us just shake our heads and piss off to do what we wanted to do but never get the chance cause there is always one of you that needs a gallahorn or something. In other words. We never asked to be there, you invited us. We try but if you're not happy with our performance, do it yourself.
-
We took over 90 minutes last night trying because a buddy and myself were making the guys with us run it . We explained what they needed to do and we beat it and they were excited . Was funny listening to them all talk about how it really wasn't that hard after someone told them what to do. Guess maybe we need to give some guidance and a little less complaining when it's taking longer than it should.
-
Experience with the relic or not, that pos raid is still bugged to hell and back. Nightmare run last night that glitched every single spawn. So annoying.
-
I did the relic on Templar and Atheon at 25 on my alt the other day. If you can't do it at 32....
-
I know once I actually started handling the relic I wished I had gotten on it sooner. It'd be nice if they would have relic events on Venus and Mars like we now have for the sword on earth and the moon where you don't have to waste anyone's time learning how to handle it. That's the biggest problem, people want to complain that there are players who can't use the relic but they don't have the patience to ask who doesn't know and try to get them to learn.
-
None of my friends can handle the sword on hard mode. I don't mind doing sword and I'm good at it, but at a certain point you need to step up and learn.
-
The problem is bungie made VoG irrelevant. You could have been playing with people that got destiny for Christmas and can buy gear better than VoG raid gear and 300 attack primaries. So that 32 could have never even stepped into VoG. The worst part is is that this problem will only get worse as new gamers buy the game because there is less and less reasons for wanting to try the earlier raids.
-
I love using the relic, for me it is the most fun part of the VOG
-
Your rank meant nothing in Destiny.
-
plan c does do a lot of damage to him lol. I killed atheon with it twice while my team was in the portal. sorry teammates I don't care if ya get lost in time,im finishing atheon lol. my first time handling relic was actually this weekend, learned how to do everything it can do and love it
-
Edited by Talaeran: 2/9/2015 1:18:37 PMNo the problem is the same that wow started running into when they offered "welfare epics" since dark below allowed people to hit 31 without ever doing vog, many people who got the game for Christmas never had to learn vog bosses and mechanics. So now that they do play the game and have heard about the mythoclast, they run hard vog. However, they don't really know how to run hard vog, they just have the level to do so
-
Relic is easy, pre Dlc players have no reason not to use it but there are those who came in on the DLC and would not know.
-
Pretty sad when people 30+ can't handle the VOG pisses me off I mean come on if you've never done it before why the he'll would you think hard mode is the place to start just because you at level doesn't mean you're ready
-
You should be able to handle the relic at like 28-29...
-
I agree 100%
