Do share, why don't you use them? And I'd rather have more specific reason than "I don't like them" (which is a valid reason ofcourse), because I'm curious why don't you like them.
Thank you!
EDIT: Typo, and thank you for feedback. :p

Shotgun takes focus, there are too many enemies to focus on in PvE
-
I actually LIKE shotguns for pve. It's the best backup for my MIDA which can basically hold its own. But my vendor-version secret handshake is just awesom in those' tier two melee-knight running for you and your mag is empty' situations. Shotty to the face - move to next target. I hate using fusionrifles and sniper's redundant when wielding a MIDA. When using any other primary I generally use a sniper instead
-
Since I found out that I need shotgun kills for grimoire score I started using them again. I get right in the enemy's face and start blasting away. I however, do not use shotguns if the mission has lightswitch or any kind burn damage on, that's just suicide. I use a Two for the Morgue with full auto perk or I use Secrete Handshake.
-
It can be dangerous to get within shotgun range of a powerful enemy, like major or ultras, and the damage output really isn't worry the risk. Once shotguns get the Pve buff that's coming, I might start using my found verdict or invective.
-
I very offensive so i use shotguns all the time in PVE. This buff is actual a win! XD
-
When it comes down to it, a shotun compared to a fusion rifle or sniper rifle is very poor PvE choice. My reasoning, the damage output is not enough at the distance I am at, at that distance I might as well use a fusion rifle and do massive damage. But I hate fusion rifles so I snipe, really a logical step for me.
-
I play pretty aggressively and the shotgun fills that role pretty effectively in pve.

Edited by Kage Goomba: 2/7/2015 5:22:54 PMShotguns are only good for "in your face action" - and well...its just not worth the gamble in majority of the cases I seem to find myself in. - Now if I had a few choice shotguns...I may change my mind about that....
-
I do. The only reason I don't use them all the Time is because the ammo becomes immediately scarce after I equip it.
-
I just got 39 kills with a longbow synthesis and the vanquisher, that's why....
-
I do all the time. Doesn't need a buff
-
I use them on roc strikes and 1st part of Vault but they are underwelming.
-
You need to be too close before it is useful, by which time you are probably being mobbed. Fusion rifle is more useful as a heavy hitting back up weapon. Can regularly take out two or three Thralls at close range. Can a shotgun do that? (Honest question I've never upgraded one so don't know!) Of course being in the same slot as the sniper rifle doesn't help either. I'll play around with them once they upgrade the damage. An arc shotgun for taking out knights would be good in nightfall.
-
Because snipers exist.
-
I agree that the risk is rarely worth the reward with shotguns, but even so they aren't bad and I do use them sometimes to good effect (I'm a Warlock and often using Flame Shield, which both requires me to be close to enemies anyway and helps me to stay alive while I am). With the damage buff I'll definitely use them even more.
-
I briefly used a shotgun for my Titan build but I couldn't get into it. I prefer sniping or fusion rifles in my secondary.
-
I use shotgun for pratorians. Spelling is wrong in that. And I use shotguns a little on the lamp run in crota. Other than that, no use.
-
Because Snipers>>>>

Close quarter battle is a bad idea in raids or any higher level area. Are you going to walk up to a lvl sword bearer and try to blast him? I actually might try just to see how bad it goes.
-
Edited by Near Haven: 2/7/2015 4:45:08 PMI tried, but enemy does most damage up close so it doesn't make sense. Hopefully this 100% increase in damage will make it worth the risk.
-
I've tried, but they are just not powerful enough, low ammo, low damage, small clip, poor range, why use a shotgun when I can crit with a hand cannon and get a one hit kill
-
Depends....against just generic mobs, a shotgun is sufficient. But at the range necessary to damage an Ultra/Major/Boss, you're in danger of a quick death. Guns in this game are judged by that factor. How effective are they against the high level enemies? What's my risk/reward? And shotguns fail compared to every other class of weapon.
-
On high level encounters, if you are close enough for a shotgun to be effective than you are in way to much danger of dying. After the buff, I plan on experimenting with them.
-
Cause they can't dominate in pve like they do In pvp. People naturally flock to the easiest way to kill. Fusions and snipers. X2 damage will be cool, but isn't it less range too though? So it's still a huge risk in the weeklies.
-
Because I like killing the people who are running around with shotguns with my Thorn
-
Edited by Scottgun00: 2/7/2015 3:09:04 PMBecause when you are close enough for a shotty, it's punching time (or fleeing time) and your special slot would be better spent with a sniper or fusion. Like another said, I'd only do it if you could swap for a shotty without going into the equipment screen.
