Do share, why don't you use them? And I'd rather have more specific reason than "I don't like them" (which is a valid reason ofcourse), because I'm curious why don't you like them.
Thank you!
EDIT: Typo, and thank you for feedback. :p

With the exception of Thralls, all of Destiny's enemies are capable of attacking at range and the shot gun has none. It is more tactically effective to eliminate threats before they get to close get within shotgun range.
-
You literally have to be in melee range to do some damage

Edited by Stanman lvl7: 2/7/2015 9:53:26 PMBecause Ice breaker/ black hammer= scoping legend.

Enemies hit hard especially with light switch. And forget about getting that close to that boss that just stomps the ground and your dead. Basically don't like dying and wasting my time doing things again.
-
I just like snipers more I don't even use fusion rifles
-
with good positioning and an awareness of your surroundings, a fusion rifle can achieve the same goal. but it's got the benefit of increased range if closing the gap isn't advisable
-
Nothing now that I have invective
-
But I do use them they are fun to use 😒
-
#FallenSnipers #VexSnipers #LightSwitch
-
I will after the 100% PVE buff they're getting.
-
Because every enemies melee hurts like hell. So getting close enough to kill something with a shotgun, especially if its a major, runs a high risk of getting yourself killed
-
No range at all and lightswitch seems to be a popular modifier :)
-
I like to keep a good distance between me and the enemy and I only get close to finish them off with a melee.
-
Marksmanship. I always run with a Scout Rifle in my Primary loadout. I'll switch between a Sniper and a Fusion Rifle in the Special slot depending on the mission requirements. I only really started using the Fusion Rifle when the Murmer came out, but it's got much better range than the shotgun and has allowed me to change up my play style in a way that I never could have with a shotgun. It's all about maintaining separation from the bad guys. If they get within shotgun range, I'm not doing my job and if I really need to lay some spank on the darkness...Hand Cannon (The Last Word.) Now, if Bungie only allowed us to use a Hand Cannon in the secondary slot instead of a Sniper, Fusion, or Shotty, I'd be a happy camper. Just like the Halo days. DMR and alien energy pistol.

Shotgun is good for one thing, to throw behind you and hope the enemy trips as you run for dear life.
-
by the time i get within range the minotaur has already f'd me sideways
-
Yes they doubled the damage output of shotguns in pve, but unless they quadrupled the range it's still not worth using. Maybe if I was doing something where there is a shit ton of thralls, and my shotgun had the perk to regen ammo with kills, but I still find the icebreaker great for the first part of crotas end. Regens bullets, explodes thralls, and gives you +2 agility = beast

Edited by DramasEnd: 2/7/2015 8:17:00 PMI use a maxed out 4th Horseman with max range in PVE with my Helm of Saint 14. Pop a bubble on a Major and blow that sumbych away with 5 full-auto shots to the dick! 4th Horseman is great for the Crota lamp phase too. I usually go Fatebringer, 4th Horseman & Song of Ir Yut
-
I use a shotgun when doing the flayers strike.
-
Fusion rifles have the same punch with 25x the range
-
Because the way enemies are designed, it is extremely hard to survive in close range.
-
In pve shotguns are to weak.
-
I'm using one on my Titan for my bubble.
-
I just started using one for grimoire points haha... I've found you can actually shotgun most bosses, there's just a trick. You can even shotgun Rockets McD. When he's on the ledge just crouch down right up next to it and his AOE won't hit you. Then when he's walking you can run in, shotgun, and double jump out.

You have to be up close and personal. In a nightfall that means death. You can only hit one monster at a time. It deals a ton of damage but then you have to readjust, due to recoil, to aim for the next enemy. If you're getting rushed by Thrall you, and if it's lightswitch, consider yourself as good as dead. Wouldn't be good against bosses due to ground slams. No good against shields. No good against an enemy that is spread out, hiding behind walls shooting. Great during patrols if you want to run towards the enemy. I would rather stay back to get a good picture of what's around me. How to fix the shotgun: make the bullets spread more. Let them over penetrate to get more than one kill at a time, if the enemy is running towards you in a group. You can add a perk that let's you over penetrate and a sawed off perk for spread.

I actually just picked up 4th horseman last night. I used it for like a minute and It seems to suck ass outside of 2 feet. Guess I haven't really given it a chance though
