Do share, why don't you use them? And I'd rather have more specific reason than "I don't like them" (which is a valid reason ofcourse), because I'm curious why don't you like them.
Thank you!
EDIT: Typo, and thank you for feedback. :p

Because range
-
I use them in nightfalls when i now there is light switch and a buff
-
I've always hated short range weapons in games. It's for the same reason I stay away from melee based games such as Dying Light. Just cannot stand it.
-
Because when you're going against a level 32 enemy with a big ass sword it's not easy to use shotgun when you'll die in one hit
-
I dont like them, you may not like my answer but its the truth.
-
Because going point blank range on endgame mobs is not only mandatory to max out your shotgun damage, it is also quite stupid and the safest way to an early and untimely death.
-
Fun to use but dangerous when fighting 30+ level enemies
-
I like killing stuff and I don't like dying.
-
Shotguns wreck Minotaurs at the confluxes on hard VoG. Same with the Praetorians while guarding the synch plates.
-
I do probably half of the time. It's fun
-
Snipers all the way
-
Because at that range I can use my sniper rifle as a shotgun.
-
Found Verdict :P
-
I only use a shotgun if the nightfall has a certain burn in my shotgun has on. I only use a shotgun in pvp on the echo base map on mars or whatever its called. Other than that I prize my black hammer above all else

Getting into shotgun range effectively puts into melee range of your target as well as completely out of cover which makes you vulnerable to every other enemy as well. Meaning shotguns carry more risk to use effectively than any other weapon. Now combine that risk with a low damage output (compared to fusion rifles and sniper rifles) and there isn't any point to use them other than for fun. Which in my opinion shotguns are incredibly fun to use in pve
-
Why get close? Lol everything meters hard in weekly sand nightfalls and dailys
-
As I can't aim for shit with a sniper rifle, I've been using nothing but shotguns as a fall back against majors since release. Its great and all that its receiving a damage buff in PvE, but its still going to be largely useless against most bosses with melee spike damage.
-
Because each time i use it or try to i feel so ashamed as to let miley cyrus lick my balls to the chance that it might fall off an hour later
-
Because my sniper shoots through walls.
-
But I do, I have invective and found verdict and I like using them both depending on the strike

The funny truth is that shotguns are already close to being fine in PvE if you use them right. Just have to hit the enemy point blank like you would in PVp. If you don't kill them outright you usually stagger them, giving you a chance for another shot or to back up. I love using them on captains and knights Gonna be so fun using them with the 100% buff now :D

Range. It's a joke. Absolute joke.
-
The things I can kill with a scout or hand cannon, I don't need a shotgun for. The things I can't, will kill me if u get into shotgun range.
-
You practically have to stick the barrel down something's throat to be a threat to it. And while you're trying to do that, you're gonna get clobbered by any enemy that matters. Meanwhile, snipers wreck stuff, absolutely wreck stuff from med-long range, and fusion do the same from short-mid range. There's no "niche" that a shotgun fills that Snipes/Fusions don't do 10x better, while allowing the user to stay out of melee range of the target.

With the exception of Thralls, all of Destiny's enemies are capable of attacking at range and the shot gun has none. It is more tactically effective to eliminate threats before they get to close get within shotgun range.
