Do share, why don't you use them? And I'd rather have more specific reason than "I don't like them" (which is a valid reason ofcourse), because I'm curious why don't you like them.
Thank you!
EDIT: Typo, and thank you for feedback. :p
-
Because in most cases when you get close to the enemy your usually gonna die
-
the damage has never been the issue... the issue is in any pve moment where it matters you cant be close enough to use a shotgun cause you will die.... i mean can you seriously say your gonna be doing hard mode crota and pull out your shotgun to help take down his sheild after the patch? No, me ether,
-
I prefer the fusion rifle.
-
I like using Invective in PvE. Just running up to enemies point blank and BLAM-BLAM-BLAM. Then I start punching stuff too. The hunters and warlocks in my fireteam are like "WTF is this guy doing?!?!"
-
I'm not too fond of running up close to every enemy one by one to blast them away. I'd rather sit back and take out multiple enemies at once with an AR or hand cannon
-
Because blackhammer
-
Try using a shotgun on crota shields.

Just not worth it for any serious activity. Generally the risk is not worth the reward in most high level activities. Since you need to leave cover and get in so close, getting killed is pretty likely. If you aren't using a Sniper, Fusion Rifles are just as lethal as Shotguns, but at a longer range. Maybe the huge damage buff in PvE will change this, we will see. I'm using a Shotgun when I go do Patrol lately, because I'm only about 1000 kills away from Grimoire Rank 3 for them, so why not, right?
-
Not enough damage. To get that close to an enemy you need to be doing conifers by high amounts of damage for the risk to be worth the reward.
-
I love shotguning hobgoblins. That satisfaction...

Edited by Sour Diesel: 2/6/2015 8:04:18 PMI prefer to not get bitch slapped by minotaurs and fallen captains. Idk why bungie thinks shottys are a viable option for Pve. You get that close to just about anything in endgame content you'll get wrecked.
-
I use them mostly on raids, use them to finish off pretorians in VoG quickly. I run a scout rifle mainly so if something gets too close for me to be accurate with that the shotty is a good backup plan. I am apparently part of the 1% that likes using a shotty on a regular basis in PvE apparently. Snipers do give them a pretty good run for their money in 90% of the scenarios you are in though.
-
Since the range nerf you have to be in melee range to use them as well.
-
I do, and I wonder people don't!
-
I do use a shotgun on my titan. I use it because I use a different weapon type on every character. Once you get used to them, they are actually not that bad, but you do have to be careful during nightfall. I guess this is the opposite of what you wanted to know.
-
They are trash that take no skill to use

Things melee you when you're close enough for a shotgun to do any damage
-
Because snipers have better/safer dps
-
I like them, it's just Sniping is more my thing, i like to hit those percision shots on bosses and majors.
-
They are shite in PVE - only good for killing noobs and tryhards in PVP
-
Using a shotgun means getting in the mids of battle and that's an almost guaranteed death if it's a nightfall, weekly or hard mode raid. I love to play with all weapons except for fusion rifles. But the harder the gamemode gets the higher the range will be on the weapons I'm gonna use.
-
The range, easily. They're useless in most strikes, as the vast majority of enemies have overpowering melee attacks. Raids are self-explanatory. They're really only good for Patrol, even then I would prefer a Sniper or a Fusion Rifle. They're just, horrible.
-
I used them for a while but I saw those epic sniping montages and wanted to give them a try. I'm pretty decent now, but if an entire team is using shotguns or fusion rifles I get messed up lol
-
Because as of right now they would be more useful as a club.
-
Weak on majors, slow reload for swarms, range sucks. I rarely use a secondary in pve.
