Do share, why don't you use them? And I'd rather have more specific reason than "I don't like them" (which is a valid reason ofcourse), because I'm curious why don't you like them.
Thank you!
EDIT: Typo, and thank you for feedback. :p

This reddit thread explains exactly everything wrong with Shotguns in PvE in Destiny. http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2uzahr/bungie_doesnt_get_why_shotguns_will_never_be_good/
-
1 point blank sword breaker does 1500 and has low rate of fire with 20 seconds of downtime. 1 hand cannon hip shot does 1500 1 ice breaker crit does 2k + By the time an enemy gets close enough to be in range for the 1500 shotgun damage, it could have fired many boomer shoots or grenades, or hobgoblin sniper shots at you Thats why....
-
Shotguns are powerful, but don't hold a lot of ammo so the eventual long reload time can be a killer, also you can't carry a lot of ammo for the gun... If I need to get up close and personal in pve, which really isn't always the case, the fusion rifle creates more bang for the buck and the reload is faster.
-
Too little range
-
I use them, hence why I have the shotgun bonus, most people don't because it's easier to get killed close up
-
Not enough damage. They should have made them stagger enemies more often as well.
-
Don't like em. Don't have time to get up close and personal I prefer ranged attacks.
-
Simple. Why get so close to anything. Most everything you see in advance of the need to shoot it so why get so close they can do damage etc.
-
It is faster and safer to take out majors with a sniper rather than being one shot by a swarm with the appropriate burn on or the one that allows melee attacks to one hit kill. Shotguns are high risk when you have baby hordes coming at you. In those circumstances use snipers to whittle them down and AR's or elemental primary's for the close range stuff.
-
I like shooting from a distance. I am trying to use swordbreaker more; mainly for the score.
-
Most pve encounters are long range (at least out of shotgun range) making them much less useful than snipers. Even with double damage I won't be using the shotguns
-
Pretty much what reason was given in the update notes. They are not powerful enough for how close you have to be to high level enemies.
-
I like them fine, but I like my Ice Breaker better; why get up close to an enemy that will kill you with 1/2 hits when you can stay at a safe distance and do the same to him with a couple of well-placed shots? That being said, my Titan probably start using my shotguns more after the damage buff happens, all while charging in and screaming "IT'S GO TIME!"
-
Fusion rifles and snipers are just better. Not that I don't like shotguns, they are just not as efficient as the other two choices.
-
I did all the time before. But then I found that sniper rifles really hit PvE enemies hard and so stuck with them. I have been using Invective on my Titan as of late, trying to level it up, and it has worked pretty well so far. It's fun getting strike bosses down to a sliver of health and then rushing them with it and getting the kill.
-
Anything I want to shoot at arse range wants to bitch slap me.

Edited by Poofy Bunnie: 2/6/2015 8:52:58 PMI do at times.

Any game I play I try to use a sniper rifle as much as possible. shotgun and rifle are both secondaries so oooo. ..
-
One answer two words. Lightswitch
-
I'd rather stay at a distance and snipe. But I can see my helm of st 14 and a shotty being a force to be reckoned with
-
Not enough damage for the risk of getting hit, especially on Lightswitch missions and nightfall. I do use a couple on Raids
-
I like skilled fights. Gun fights with rifles. Not sliding and jacking off after each kill or dying by a halo reach noob.
-
Idk with the dmg increase may make it ok at very close ranges. I'm a titan so I might be able to get a little closer to things. And if universal remote gets a range/general buff it might actually not be a joke....
-
After playing the game for so long, the only real fun I get is wrecking enemies in pve with a shotgun. Nothing more satisfying then getting the last shot on Omnigul with invective.

EDIT: Typo, and thank you for feedback. :p[/quote] Go up to 3 different groups of enemies (because they rarely aren't in a group) and face blast with a shotty...did you live? Did you die? How much health did you have after? Now do the same with other weapons, obviously you don't have to be in melee range. Did you live?die? Loss of health? Now-reloading...to my knowledge all shotguns are single slug reload, no other weapons are-that have a higher than 1 round clip. The above will never change...why? Pvp. Instant clip reload would make pvp even more of a shotty fest than it already is. Pvp maps in this game are largely built on face to face combat. I love shotguns, but in a game where nearly all enemies can one-shot (or nearly one-shot) it makes no sense to use it...you cause more stress to teammates than damage output by using this face to face weapon class.
-
too many enemies and the shotgun blasts only direct at one enemy, they need to be wider blasts and shorter distances... larger target acquision area
