Do share, why don't you use them? And I'd rather have more specific reason than "I don't like them" (which is a valid reason ofcourse), because I'm curious why don't you like them.
Thank you!
EDIT: Typo, and thank you for feedback. :p

Because, being a fairly average shot, my sniper is much more effective and safe. That and I love snipers (I also love Shotguns too, but I'd rather not be Ghosting).
-
They are definitely worth it, except in nightfalls. I can't wait to use them in the first part of vog once the update drops.
-
I don't like the idea of being super close to an enemy that can take a sizeable chunk of my health out with a melee attack.
-
Probably going to tonight now that I have invective (want to try it) and they did just double its damage in PVE so why not?
-
Because my melee does more damage?
-
I enjoy feasting on the souls of knights with my shotguns <3
-
Because Short gun users are looking for an easy way out
-
Because the range is ass... If the barrel isn't in their mouth, every pellet does 1-2 damage. Not worth it...
-
I always carry a sniper secondary in PvE, because I just find that I am able to apply it in more situations than the shotgun.
-
I use them UR does dmgs
-
I am using shotguns in PvE though...
-
I never use shotguns to begin with
-
Range. I like to confront my enemies from a distance where they have less of a chance to off me.
-
Because they aren't worth it for any boss fight at all. Rather have a sniper and do way more damage.
-
Anything you're close enough to kill will kill you first

Edited by slopat: 2/7/2015 3:30:20 AMRange. Or rather, lack of it. Doubt the announced buff will make me use them more than I do now. They are all downside, no upside.
-
They could buff shotguns by 1000% and it still won't be used in PvE. It's a range thing. Nobody wants to be right next to an enemy when they can drop you in an instant. Lightswitch? Lvl 33 knights? There's no way. There are no tanks in Destiny. The RPG elements are not real RPG elements. There's no physical resistance builds here. There's no elemental defense builds here. Destiny isn't built for shotguns in PvE.
-
For any serious encounter, it's just too risky to charge a mob with a shotgun. Daily, weekly, and nightfalls with elemental damage and/or light switch promotes picking off enemies one by one from a safe distance. That being said, there are very specific situations where I do use shotguns because they're great for staggering majors/ultras. Specific instances: clearing the minotaurs out of the Nexus room; taking care of Knights in the entrance of last room in the Wakening mission; and Swordbreaker with raid gauntlets increasing reload speed is fantastic for traversing the abyss.

I have a Judgment VI with nearly max range+ rangefinder, but it just feels dirty using it. Just too easy to get kills.
-
Range is the main argument.... and you only encounter enemies face to face only a small percentage of times. Most people would like to stay as far away as possible. Honestly I run them sometimes on strikes up until the boss because they destroy all mobs
-
Cause I'm frightened of those ugly ass aliens. I mean come on, who would get up close to a dreg and not shit in his pants? Those bad boys are scary as hell and I'd rather snipe them from 3 miles away than getting in shotgun range...
-
Cause I'm STRAIGHT
-
Hmm.... Swordbearer is running at you. Would you rather stagger him with your sniper or would you rather wait until him can one hit slice you so you can do damage. I don't know. It's a tough choice you know.
-
They feel useless in PVE, except for patrols. Well, they're not exactly useful for patrols, but...you get me. Just got Universal Remote though... That gun is effing FUN! I coupled it with Secret Handshake (full auto baby) and run around blasting alien scum in the face. Its...fun.
-
The last thing you want in the raid is to be three feet from an enemy
-
Because it seems that I get meleed to death after unloading a shot at point blank range every single time.
