Do share, why don't you use them? And I'd rather have more specific reason than "I don't like them" (which is a valid reason ofcourse), because I'm curious why don't you like them.
Thank you!
EDIT: Typo, and thank you for feedback. :p

Just started using the crota shotgun and gotta say it goes well with my titan bubble. Never used shotguns before but gotta say its good for quick kills
-
It's not as safe as shooting them from a distance. When you have to get as close as you do with shotguns you risk going in the shooting and getting out. All the while your getting shot at melee and then shot at again almost the entire time.
-
Blackhammer For PvE its the best special weapon for any situations ( scrubs that cant aim has to use icebreaker )
-
No damage against mobs/ads damn things don't do a lot up close either so Bungie is giving it a buff to actually do something against mobs/ads in the PvE criteria
-
Reload is way to slow when your in that front line battle stuff. Mags are too small, you've empty the clip and then get melee'd to death as you reload.
-
Because I like using my primary as a primary weapon... Also I'm good with a sniper so I prefer hand cannon and sniper by a mile
-
You can't shotgun bosses without being stompped on, snipers > shotguns for bosses, = waste of ammo to switch.
-
Lack of ammo and power. So maybe after the nerf i will use them more. But mostly because i like snipers more and think they are more usefull.
-
I DO use them though xD I use a sniper for VoG and archon priest but that is it
-
Have a almost fully upgraded swordbreaker and I tried to use in raid awful!!
-
Because snipers
-
The same reason our troops don't use them.
-
Used to Swordbreaker is shit Hope the arena one is better
-
I usually dismantle them within seconds of getting them without looking at the perks
-
I DO use shotguns in PvE :) they're my favorite weapon to use as I fend back the darkness(besides all of those hand cannons with firefly).
-
Because CQC often leads to me being butt-blam!-ed by their OP melee attack. Not a very smart idea, especially if lightswitch is turned on.
-
Tbh I forget to equip it
-
Buff hasn't been release yet. So right now they're equally as useless. I prefer long range weapons anyway, like snipers.
-
Because you can't get close enough to bosses without being murdered by their crazy melees, and they don't have enough damage, or ammo, to be able to kill mobs accurately. I feel like a shotgun spread should be able to kill more than 1 guy. But I have to empty a mag if I go into a room with 4 or 5 enemies in it.

Edited by Kovathos: 2/7/2015 10:52:25 AMToo short of range, too much risk for the reward, especially when there's burns involved where cover is important to have so you aren't 1-2 shotted. The update will be real nice for shotguns in pve despite the range nerf again but I'm guessing that damage buff in pve is going to get nerfed also in the future. 4 shotgun blasts it took me to kill prohibitive mind for a bounty with invectis, which is a solar weapon vs a void shield. With the update it'll be 2. I smell nerf just from that. Then again it would just make shotguns op for any pve activity lvl 26 and under. Not so much when it's lvl 30 or higher though. I know one thing is for sure, I'll be bringing a shotgun to many more situations.

Would you rather have unlimited ammo and minimal risk of being killed by using an Icebreaker or would you rather run up to enemies unloading 4-6 shells into them if they have shields which would most likely not kill them and most likely die depending on the difficulty? Answers pretty easy, fortunately Bungie is buffing the shotty's for PvE, but I still probably won't run one.
-
Range is the biggest issue. I use to use Universal Remote + Found Verdict in patrol and strikes to help get the Shotgun Grimoire (5K kills?), was actually quite fun at times, especially hitting Valus and Phogoth with a shotty, but yeah not the most effective weapon to use.
-
The range is unrealistically short (because of PvP) and they have the wrong munitions loaded for the majority engagements in destiny. They are also massively underpowered.
-
I've already mastered my loadouts for encounters that I know I'm gonna face. Shotguns need not apply. Unless it's a patrol and just playing about.
-
You have to be too close to use them. Melee hurts in this game. What I want to know is how come they don't have a slug version of shotguns?
-
-They are the worst possible option against swarms. -They are suicide vs any serious melee threat. -Any time I would use a shotgun, my melee is the better choice. -Boss instagib stomp. Shotguns just don't make sense in a game where melee abilities are readily available, more damaging, and provide utility.
