Do share, why don't you use them? And I'd rather have more specific reason than "I don't like them" (which is a valid reason ofcourse), because I'm curious why don't you like them.
Thank you!
EDIT: Typo, and thank you for feedback. :p

I only ever use my secret handshake to keep the precision kills going on smaller enemies
-
I've been using them since like last week just to get my score up on them. They r pretty terrible. Unless u r in the middle of -blam!- ur victim there is almost no damage out put. 8 feet away and u get a massive 8 damage? Pretty awful. Then when u r right in the face of a guy u out lvl by about 6, it's still not an instant kill.
-
I would use them more often if there was an easier way to switch from it to a sniper rifle.
-
Because it means that I'm in melee range, not just for me but for the enemy too, and if I'm intentionally in melee range it's because I'm in a fight I know I can already win without any gun. That's my reason
-
Damage output not good. In raids and nightfalls you just put your self in range of the big bad to beat you to a pulp after you spray him with confetti
-
Shotgums are only useful at close ranges. Snipers and fusions are good at any range, and against bosses.
-
Fatebringer.. Don't need anything else.

I use them but I don't like that they're called shotguns when they don't function as such. I used to be a competitive shooter (IPSC, USPSA 3 Gun) and I had several shotguns that I used in competition. I ran a Benelli M4 when I first started but it didn't hold enough ammo and reloaded like a pig so I traded it for a Winchester/FN TPS and a Mossberg 590A1. Both of the pump action models had Vang Comp barrels and the TPS had a sweet Magpul stock while the 590 had one with an inertial dampener in it to soak recoil. This was in 2007-2008. There was no Traveler or space magic or mysterious time jumping sex robots with amnesia. Using Federal Low Recoil tactical 00 buckshot, both guns would put all 9 .30 caliber pellets into a shot grouping the size of a paper dinner plate...at 25 yards. Every time. That's 25 meters for metric types. Both guns had 18 inch barrels. Compare these characteristics to the shotguns in the game that DOES have space Jesus ball sex robot magic and what do you get? A migraine. Why is it that the most advanced shotgun in human history only works from 5 feet away? Is that even a gun anymore? Do they know that a 6 foot spear is a better weapon than a Destiny shotgun? You'd get shot and surrounded by a cloud of 1's just as you rammed your spear through the shooter's chest. And let's talk about recoil, reload speed and action cycling speed for a minute too. With practice, the right load and a good cheek weld, there's no reason to lose your sight picture with a combat shotgun. At least not to the degree shown in the animation. Same goes for cycling the pump action. No reason at all to lose, your cheek weld. As for reloads, they do better than most games at letting you drop in one shell really fast and getting back on target. It's still slower than it should be for a professional shooter though. By far. Is that what you meant? I have the vanguard shotgun now and it's the best I've seen but I could still be killed easily by a guy with a spear while using it.

Edited by MyNameIsCesko: 2/7/2015 1:31:30 PMWell, my reason is this: - There are a lot of cool sniper and fusion legendary rifles, not the same for shotgun - There are few very cool exotic shotguns, but exotic slot is better used for primaries and heavys for the reason above But shotguns are already awesome against big life enemies, after the patch and 100% plus damage I think they'll be by far the most OP weapon in PvE

Because of low range Beacause snipers do more damage I like shooting criticals with snipers I feel like an LMG pro when I land criticals with sniper Note: I don't use Fusion Rifles either and I got Plan C with Pocket Infinity.
-
#1: Risk not worth reward; higher difficulties punish close range engagements. #2: Damage; the average fusion and sniper rifle puts out similar DPS - at a safer range. #3: Preference. This is self explanatory, I simply prefer to keep my distance.
-
Snipers do more damage and also I like to be out of range when I kill difficult enemies. Destinys engagement range is pretty far and enemies engagement range is so short. So therefore they can see us but can't hit us.
-
I do use em but since I like running hand cannons I typically like to have a sniper rifle for the added range (even though hawkmoon is a mini sniper)
-
Snipers are more effective my friend
-
I use them all the time I took down sepiks prime with shottys to the face last night. No lie shotguns in pve are so much fun.
-
If I get close enough to an enemy to justify using a shotgun, it's most likely going to kill me first. I can use a fusion rifle with just as much damage or a combo of a grenade/weapon or panic super.
-
I use them rarely, but avoid the found verdict. That thing is too OP for me, I actually feel guilty using it.

Edited by sergeantawesome: 2/7/2015 1:03:42 PMUnless I'm on the heroic Rasputin hive level where the knight majors spawn next to where I hide from the ogre, I don't use shotguns. Swordbreaker has saved me from some situations, but if I'm ever that close to something it's a melee and get the hell out. I prefer to keep my distance. Gotta keep a reactionary gap.
-
I've yet to get a shotgun that I felt was worthy enough to take ice breaker's spot and I never will.
-
There are large open areas in most pve maps, and getting into shotgun range usually means you're going to be shot down by a mob. This is not the case in PvP. There are doors, corners, ledges, crates or large rocks every ten feet in PvP maps. And shotguns can get one shot kills at almost twice that range against other players.
-
I use invective on errything (strike bosses included) but not the raid because of the lack of range. Titan+helm of saint 14+invective =fun
-
You should run the Nightfall with just a shotty. Probably easier solo.
-
If Lightswitch isn't on, I love using shotguns in PvE
-
I do in Patrols. Just for the Grimoire
-
Most of the tougher enemies in a raid or nightfall will just punish you if you are close enough to use a shotgun
-
Shotguns are fun and hard to use in pve... I wouldn't use them in a weekly/nightfall/raid... but in roc strikes it's fun to take the boss out with a shotgun...
