Uh, no, Hale CE had a brilliant complete story that wasn't made with the intention of stretching it out over ten years, they simply expanded on what was already done. The story was self contained from beginning to finish with no cliffhangers at the end. Sure, they left it open with the tantalizing line from Chief "No, it's only just begun" (or something like that, I forget what he said exactly, tbh).
Bungie didn't intend for Halo to be a franchise at that point. If they did, the story would've probably been cut somewhere in the middle like when you get out of the Library. If you wanted to finish it, buy the DLC packs coming out in the next six months.
Destiny is just a load of random events you stumble into that lead nowhere, and no satisfaction or sense of immersion at all. There weren't any memorable characters (except Dinklebot who is annoying af) and the few cutscenes they had were boring and vague.
Edit: And don't say Halo CE's story was "horrible", I think you need to actually play the game and pay attention to the story. It's still one of the best I've ever seen in any video game. It didn't make much sense because back then Bungie intentionally left a sense of mystery but enough for you to actually understand the damn thing instead of saying "I could tell you... but I won't. Just kill stuff."

That just means Bungie intended Destiny to be expanded upon, whereas Combat Evolved was naught to be extended upon.
