l hate how everyone is on Bungie's ass for bad story telling. lf you go back, at the time Halo: CE story was horrible but 15 years and 5 games later it all makes sense because they had so much time to develop it and figure out what people wanted. A great story is not just made over night. lt will take time, patience, and the help of fans to bring out the story of what Destiny could be. We have only seen the tip of the iceburg.

  • Yea not a good defense for absolutely zero story. Others have done a great job explaining why to you so I'll just add that the tip of the iceberg was all it took to sink the Titanic. Bungie should have come out swinging with a complete immersive story, especially when starting a brand new IP.

The head story writer (Who left Bungie, most likely due to the fact that they cut all of his hard work from the game, a year prior to release) worked on the story of Destiny for over 4 years.....What the hell are you talking about "It takes time" You don't see people writing books, and then waiting for feedback, and then rewriting the book, and waiting for more feedback, and then rewriting the book for years and years and years in order to come up with a great story....The amount of not knowing WTF you are talking about in your post is staggering...

Uh, no, Hale CE had a brilliant complete story that wasn't made with the intention of stretching it out over ten years, they simply expanded on what was already done. The story was self contained from beginning to finish with no cliffhangers at the end. Sure, they left it open with the tantalizing line from Chief "No, it's only just begun" (or something like that, I forget what he said exactly, tbh). Bungie didn't intend for Halo to be a franchise at that point. If they did, the story would've probably been cut somewhere in the middle like when you get out of the Library. If you wanted to finish it, buy the DLC packs coming out in the next six months. Destiny is just a load of random events you stumble into that lead nowhere, and no satisfaction or sense of immersion at all. There weren't any memorable characters (except Dinklebot who is annoying af) and the few cutscenes they had were boring and vague. Edit: And don't say Halo CE's story was "horrible", I think you need to actually play the game and pay attention to the story. It's still one of the best I've ever seen in any video game. It didn't make much sense because back then Bungie intentionally left a sense of mystery but enough for you to actually understand the damn thing instead of saying "I could tell you... but I won't. Just kill stuff."

  • That just means Bungie intended Destiny to be expanded upon, whereas Combat Evolved was naught to be extended upon.

  • ? ummm...halo CE's story was epic - fully realized - considered one of the best of all time? yeah its been expanded upon, but that doesnt mean it sucked - I get what you were trying to say, but bad example lol -

  • What part of Halo: CE's plot was horrible? The difference between Halo:CE and Destiny for me is the tension and release of the story arc. Halo felt like a complete piece with difinitive aims and goals, whereas Destiny is vague with an ending that has no impact or real closure - I never felt invested in the plot or felt a sense of achievement upon completion. My favourite mission in Halo:CE is 'assault on the control room' - it felt like an epic battle with a sense of urgency, can a comparison be drawn anywhere in Destiny's main story arc?

  • Whatever. Mass effect had a great story in the first game itself. There are a ton of games out there with great story lines. Stop making excuses for bungie. We only lose by cutting them slack.

  • This. I tell people this and they laugh but a year or two down the road Destiny will look a lot better in terms of story.

  • Halo CE's story was already damn good without the need for DLC.
