Triple. A. Title.
Edit #1- Wow I got a ton of feedback from posting this. Glad to see there are so many guardians out there still voicing their opinions. Also, on a side note, I just want to make it clear that I did not create this video.
Lets hope threads like this may change Bungie's strategies for story telling in the future. Although the concept of the Grimoire is a great ADDITION to a story, and unclear narratives can sometimes lead to community driven story telling, I cannot help but feel that the lack of a cohesive story in Destiny is a result of poor planning, budget cuts, or laziness on Bungie's side.
Thanks again for the feedback guardians, keep it coming, and keep your light safe.
Edit #2- Broke 900, soon to be 1000! Lets keep the conversation rolling. Also I would like to address one point.
This video does indeed use information presented in the Grimoire cards. However, the praise I am giving is directed at the way this narrative is PRESENTED by the creator of the video. I feel that the way this information was organized in the video is much more effective than any way it was presented by Bungie themselves. Time and effort was put into the creation of this video to make sure the player understood lore, actual events in game, as well as symbology related to the story that is told. This, in my opinion, seems like a much more caring way to present a narrative.

Edited by motlive: 2/6/2015 9:14:15 AMI always said that the grimoire cards, even in the beta, should have been either done as small videos or as small playable levels. From my website on the subject: Grimoire Not being able to see that in game is crazy! Why do I need to go to “bungie.net” to view my stats, total kills and read the lore? Bungie if you really wanted Grimoire cards to be unique and fun and a way to learn the history then why not use the technology you have to hand and make some videos that show the story? That wouldn’t be too difficult and stuff like Ares One you have already made and shown. But wouldn’t it have been amazing to have been a member of that 3 person crew, and you got us to walk to the Traveler, look at the landscape etc. Then quickly move on 100 years to show us exploring Venus and the first run in with the Vex, again a small playable walk-through, nothing fancy, no need to kill enemies, just interact with the story and maybe help in some way. Again another 100 years later we are shown as part of some team who get caught up in a fire fight and you are battling your way through a large horde of the Hive. You attempt to escape in your ship but it gets shot down entering Earths orbit and you are lost! Cut then to the opening scene of the actual game, the Ghost was looking for us because we had been involved in a lot of the history, we play a pivotal role, and now that he has the power to resurrect he wants to bring us back to continue the fight! As the Traveler has extended human life span this can easily be explained as being the same person, giving your character a back story and some history. Some may say that would then mean everyone shares the same back story, but we all do anyway, we all got resurrected in the same traffic jam with no explanation!
