In this video he clearly destroys the ward without killing the Titan. I'm right again, like I always am.
In the above video, a Blade Dancer uses 2 Razor's Edges to destroy my Ward of Dawn, kill me inside, and then kill my teammate.
Ward of Dawn is the only super in the game that does not directly give you kills, and it is currently the weakest super. It loses to EVERY super in the game. Arc Blade is already good enough that a Blade Dancer can come into my bubble and kill me, they don't also need the ability to destroy it without risking anything. If they come into the bubble, it's a coin toss on who wins. With Showstopper and Razor's Edge (both of which destroy the bubble after 2 hits), they always win.
There's no counter play there. There's counter play when they come in. They can blink above me and try to catch me off guard. They can zig zag in with the melee dash and avoid the shotgun. There's a tug of war when a Blade Dancer comes into the bubble, and it's fun and compelling.
That's all lost if they just destroy it like it's nothing and still have super left over to destroy everyone.
The same thing goes for Sunsinger. I'm OK with WoD being destroyable, I just think it should require a little more effort. A Striker and Voidwalker have to use ALL of their super to destroy WoD, which cost ALL of my super to activate. And even then I can leave that situation alive. There's counterplay for both these supers for avoiding death. I feel like WoD should be destroyable by using a significant amount, if not ALL of your super if you play as Gunslinger, Sunsinger,, and Blade Dancer.
Also, please look into Suppression Grenades. They currently deactivate all supers EXCEPT Arc Blade. Sometimes Arc Blade deactivates, and sometimes they continue murdering everyone. The only thing that makes Suppression Grenade good is the utility of dealing with supers.
I understand that people may think that the fact that you can build super while you're super is out balances out WoD, but WoD is the least offensive super in the game and relies heavily on opponents challenging you when they shouldn't in order to actually be successful.
Feel free to discuss.

If you have helm of saint and they come in the bubble, jump out of the bubble and watch them waste their super
-
Maybe because ward of dawn is support? Common sense Bruh
-
It's good for control and has it's uses in rumble stopping you dying. With blessings it's like a base of over shield to fight from and mass kills

Edited by Adam: 2/9/2015 1:31:58 AMUse Weapons Of Light + Glasshouse and be aggressive instead of just sitting in your bubble waiting to die. If you have that setup, you will win a TON of gunfights.... Half the time you'll have another bubble before your other one runs out. Ward Of Dawn is insanely good, just really badly utilized.
-
It's too easy to destroy. Two Golden Gun shots I think. And a striker can just Fist of Havoc through it like it isn't there. Requiring two supers to destroy it would be more reasonable. It should take a lot more damage before going down.

First of all you should have specified this post as PVP in the title, secondly ward of dawn is fine. If you compliment it with a decent shotgun and a helm of saint-14 its damn near impossible to mess with unless someone uses a super on you. You have to remember that defender is a support class not an offensive class and use your strengths to your advantage. Yes other supers will mess you up, just like a striker super will destroy a blade dancer or warlock mid super. I have all three classes at 32 and play PvP on all of them, but the defender titan has to be the most fun, you just need to outsmart your foe.
-
I main titan and have since day 1 and I also main striker for everything, but I have maxed defender and used it everywhere. While I do agree it's the weakest super, I say that only because it's purely defensive, defender is a support class it's supposed to be a benifit to everyone on your team, now everyone here should know all of this, but I don't really think it needs a buff, however want needs to be changed is novas should not pass though the WoD, nor should either of the hunters super be able to destroy it so quickly it should take all of golden gun and showstopper and the other one razors edge or whatever it's called should either not hurt the bubble or supers hitting the bubble should cancel each other out. It's an interesting idea but for one I doubt bungie will do anything and I think the reason being primarily it won't be changed because it has the ability to buff everyone on your team.

Edited by Rocket69Jumper: 2/7/2015 10:21:19 PMWhile it can be effective in PvP, especially in control, it's a lot more situational than the other supers. And it's a lot harder to rack up a kill streak with than other supers. I know it can be done, but there's no doubt it's harder and more situational than any other super in the crucible. That said though, it's the best super in PvE. So it is balanced in that regard. -Titan defender with saint helm for what it's worth. But striker seems better for PvP. I just wish I had the exotic chest piece that grants an extra grenade to go with it

Ward of Dawn should initially give damage reduction while you're inside. On top of that, the Ward should hurt or slow whoever walks inside because there's no reason they should be able to waltz right in (radiance and arc blade being exceptions). In place of armor of light, they could've used another perk.

Edited by magburner: 2/7/2015 8:22:41 PMFirst of all, your strategy is wrong, do not stand inside your Ward, unless you have to. Instead, use it as a temporary barrier between you, and your assailant. I have no experience in PvP, but in PvE, at the start of Crota's End, I often find the best place to be, is behind your ward and not in it. It helps if you have Helm of Saint-14, this is a great equaliser, but even with that, you still have to use your Ward effectively. Only an inexperienced Defender would think that their Ward offers them complete invulnerability.

Only change i wish for ward of dawn is a timer and to give you assists if someone buffed with WoL or BoL gets a kill and netting you a higher amount of potential super uses. Also a titan is pretty ridiculous if using thorn or hawkmoon and being buffed by WoL
-
Why do hunters even get arc wave, it's like the titans shockwave but the hunter can use it multiple times abd still knife everyone
-
This is not destroying the WoD. This is the same glitch as using the arc blade to kill ads through the "glass" in Crota before it opens. The super actually killed you, thus making the WoD disappear. I hope they fix this soon

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LP2wQ0floDQ What with a larger group of defenders, it is VERY Overpowered.
-
Ward of Dawn is a PvE super as are all the other second supers (Blade Dancer, Sunsinger, Defender) do not expect it to be good in PvP.
-
You really need to get your facts right. DoW is not destroyed by the hunter, you are. And in line with the DoW mechanics if the owner dies do dies the bubble. DoW blocks projectiles (including grenades) , that's it. Ground waves (bladedancer and titan super secondary effects) are not projectiles. Watch the video again and you'll see you take damage from it before dying and then the DoW disappearing.
-
Radiance doesn't get you kills.
-
I have to say... That Hunter was quick thinking lol
-
you should go with blessings, pop out and get a kill, pop back in again, effective and easy.
-
Completely agree. I run all three classes at max level and have logged a lot of time on each. Titan was my first and still favorite tho but one reason I quit PvP is the ward of dawn gets trounced by every other class. Golden gun? Shatters ward n kills me. Blade dancer? Even if I have my helm of saint 14 on they just need to jump in and hit showstopper and im done. Void walker? One nova bomb and its gone and vortex im getting hurt and potentially trapped. Striker? Jump in with fist o havoc and slaughter all inside. Sun singer is the only subclass that doesnt completely annihilate ward of dawn but even then, pop in and stick a fusion grenade and then repeat with a second (gift of the Sun) and even armor of light doesn't save u. As the only completely defensive subclass I feel ward of dawn should be unbreakable. Enemies should have to wait u out or risk entering to combat you. Further, armor of light should give u the strength to withstand at least 3 blade dancer strikes or two golden gun blasts to give u a fighting chance. Nova bomb can still one hit kill inside but warlock has to come in and fight like a man risking death to use it. That's my take.
-
I see your point in this. Bungie may be looking into WoD for pvp due to that "infinite super exploit" going on. I have no ideas on it's balance. This is why I pvp as striker. I know that doesn't solve this issue but to I have to default to striker for pvp because I know how vulnerable WoD is.
-
Seriously??? They got inside your bubble and killed you? DUH! That's what happens and is suppose to happen. OMG this is about the dumbest thread today
-
you clearly haven't seen the unlimited bubbles on YouTube have you.... look that up and come back lmao. shit be broken
-
Just saying, if you had weapons of light or blessing of light, you could have run out of your bubble and beat the cr@p out of that blade dancer.
