Triple. A. Title.
Edit #1- Wow I got a ton of feedback from posting this. Glad to see there are so many guardians out there still voicing their opinions. Also, on a side note, I just want to make it clear that I did not create this video.
Lets hope threads like this may change Bungie's strategies for story telling in the future. Although the concept of the Grimoire is a great ADDITION to a story, and unclear narratives can sometimes lead to community driven story telling, I cannot help but feel that the lack of a cohesive story in Destiny is a result of poor planning, budget cuts, or laziness on Bungie's side.
Thanks again for the feedback guardians, keep it coming, and keep your light safe.
Edit #2- Broke 900, soon to be 1000! Lets keep the conversation rolling. Also I would like to address one point.
This video does indeed use information presented in the Grimoire cards. However, the praise I am giving is directed at the way this narrative is PRESENTED by the creator of the video. I feel that the way this information was organized in the video is much more effective than any way it was presented by Bungie themselves. Time and effort was put into the creation of this video to make sure the player understood lore, actual events in game, as well as symbology related to the story that is told. This, in my opinion, seems like a much more caring way to present a narrative.

Destiny has such a lacking story it is pathetic. They should have paid off the story writer instead of letting him go.

Applause 👏👏👏👏

That was a really nice watch, and I think the creator has a lot of talent. However, I'd not like that in Destiny. I think the grimoire cards and missions are fine for giving us the lore. What I would love, is a special like this for each raid. Rather then feeding info from the grimoire cards, I'd love to actually read a comic, or watch a short animation on the doomed teams themselves. I'd love to see the names of the guardians who were erased from time in the VoG, and to see Kabr struggle against the Vex, until he eventually destroyed himself to make the relic. I'd love to see Toland, Eris and the others in the darkness. Fighting off the witches, trying to hide from Ir Yut. Trying to make sense of everything around them. Both would be amazing to view, be it in comic or animated form, or as a light novel.

Impressive. Very impressive.
-
love it lad thats the way it should have been done very good job
-
Really good job. Bungie why can't you just put everything from grimore cards to the game in cut-scene form. As you can see it's really not that hard to tell a story in a cheap way.

Edited by T3RM1N83R: 2/6/2015 11:46:24 AMYou made the most sense of this game. Totally appreciate your work, your insight, your art.... wish you were working for Bungie, this existing story is going nowhere quick.

Terra Mantis is well known for his awesome Dark Souls Lore Videos! Like +1

Is this all legit from the grimoire, or did he take liberties in filling in the holes? Does destiny actually HAVE a plot??Gasp! Honestly though, in some ways I'm glad the story doesn't hit you over the head. I like being able to party with my friends while smashing some giant green dude without getting Co fused over how we are traveling into a world in the green dudes imagination, and more importantly how we can kill him inside his own mind... But seriously, even if they couldn't meet their deadlines just patching some cut scenes into the menu like they did for TBD trailer would give the best of both worlds.

More awesome community stuffs come out, more shitty Bungie looks lke.

Edited by Senor Crouch: 2/6/2015 7:17:37 AM*gives standing ovation to TerraMantis* Well done, sir, well done. If I could work my will, this would be a scene in Destiny. And, might I add that this is one cutscene I would never want to skip. This provided a more cohesive story, a more in depth understanding of who Crota is and what Eris' motivations are than anything that the Dark Below DLC provided. I can now feel some form of sympathy towards Eris' plight, where before I really didn't care. I'd like to also give kudos to you, Crispbacon808, for your clever title to this thread. Makes one wonder where the $500 million went considering this guy probably had a budget of around $0 and something as simple as Windows Movie Maker at his disposal. And, let us not forget the man power difference: a 500 dev team vs. a 1 man army. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if in couple of years the Destiny community constructs a more evolved, more complete Destiny-esque game. Wouldn't that be ironic?.

I saw this video the other day n thought what an excellent job. Better than the Devs. Blam you bungie!
-
Why is it so hard for them to include something like this in the game?! Just make a five minute video on the hive, vex, etc. They're so lazy! I'd even take cartoon videos like the terminals in Halo 4. What a waste of a story.
-
Great job. So much better than anything bungie has attempted. They'll be nerfing this video soon!

-
This guys explanation and story telling was a 100 times better than the games ever was. Wish i could give him my 60 bucks and take it back from shit bungie. Does anyone else feel sorry for what the name has turned into.
-
This is a majestic video. Made me dream about destiny better than anything bungie ever did. They should pay that guy to do more such work and integrate it in the game. This is what this game intended to be, an epic venture that we never really got thanks to the lack of videos and narration.
-
Sure beats some cards you need to read in a web browser :) Impressive work.
-
Ok I will watch this later. It seem interesting.
-
What if I told you the reason there isn't a plot is because your ghost only woke you up a short time ago and you've been too busy obsessing about nerfs/buffs/forum rants to find out? /sarcasm
-
Bad ass video
-
Edited by domenico: 2/6/2015 5:38:54 AMI was pretty sure that stuff was based off the grimoire cards... But correct me if I'm wrong. Edit: Getting a lot of likes for this comment, so I guess I'm right then?
