Allright Bungie, someone trumped your entire game's presentation of plot, narrative, and 500 million dollar budget using only Windows Movie Maker. Your move.

Edit #1- Wow I got a ton of feedback from posting this. Glad to see there are so many guardians out there still voicing their opinions. Also, on a side note, I just want to make it clear that I did not create this video.
Lets hope threads like this may change Bungie's strategies for story telling in the future. Although the concept of the Grimoire is a great ADDITION to a story, and unclear narratives can sometimes lead to community driven story telling, I cannot help but feel that the lack of a cohesive story in Destiny is a result of poor planning, budget cuts, or laziness on Bungie's side.

This video does indeed use information presented in the Grimoire cards. However, the praise I am giving is directed at the way this narrative is PRESENTED by the creator of the video. I feel that the way this information was organized in the video is much more effective than any way it was presented by Bungie themselves. Time and effort was put into the creation of this video to make sure the player understood lore, actual events in game, as well as symbology related to the story that is told. This, in my opinion, seems like a much more caring way to present a narrative.

Kind of wished someone with a smoother voice narrated this. Something similar to Ron Perlman. Loved his Fallout narrations.

32 RepliesEdited by Mar: 2/6/2015 5:29:27 PMi have 2 main things to say here, and please don't take this personally, its not pointed at YOU (OP) or the guy who made the video (its well done, even if it has a few inaccuracies) 1: coming from playing things like dark souls 1/2 and other games with "no story" or "extreamly stupid / bad/ badly told" stories, a story would have to be NONEXISTENT, or be just really, really, really ,really bad before i'd even start to say a company has 0 story telling ability 2: i really don't see why people complain so much about stuff like this in destiny, the souls community has done crap like this for YEARS now and only the people who barely understand the game whine about it constantly. again not direct at you personally OP, but people could lay off a bit. and yeah they coulda done a better job telling the back story stuff but i've seen ALOT worse. edit- the lack of reading comprehension is strong in a few people here

I already got all this information in game without a damn 29 minute video. It was more like I was exploring and learning and figuring it out on my own. And if I had any question when I'm back at the tower I would take a short trip to the library and do some reading on the topic. Some people really are just too dumb and ignorant to accept change. I'm sorry but I do not want to read every npcs dialogue to know what's going on, I'd rather read the archives. Oh and that 500 million dollars is to keep Bungie employees working over next 10 years so that us people who enjoy destiny will be able to see it to its end thanks to all you quitters.
