Triple. A. Title.
Edit #1- Wow I got a ton of feedback from posting this. Glad to see there are so many guardians out there still voicing their opinions. Also, on a side note, I just want to make it clear that I did not create this video.
Lets hope threads like this may change Bungie's strategies for story telling in the future. Although the concept of the Grimoire is a great ADDITION to a story, and unclear narratives can sometimes lead to community driven story telling, I cannot help but feel that the lack of a cohesive story in Destiny is a result of poor planning, budget cuts, or laziness on Bungie's side.
Thanks again for the feedback guardians, keep it coming, and keep your light safe.
Edit #2- Broke 900, soon to be 1000! Lets keep the conversation rolling. Also I would like to address one point.
This video does indeed use information presented in the Grimoire cards. However, the praise I am giving is directed at the way this narrative is PRESENTED by the creator of the video. I feel that the way this information was organized in the video is much more effective than any way it was presented by Bungie themselves. Time and effort was put into the creation of this video to make sure the player understood lore, actual events in game, as well as symbology related to the story that is told. This, in my opinion, seems like a much more caring way to present a narrative.

Given the resources used, I agree; this is very far beyond Bungie's story telling in game. Honestly, it's really frustrating to see this as it highlights how lazy Bungie's take is. At the very least, they should allow a few skilled fans to create such videos and put them in the game. I bet they could find and willing to do it for free. My hope is that storytelling continues to improve and by the time Destiny 2 hits, Bungie quietly acknowledges that the storytelling of Destiny 1 was definitely a misstep, and forges something very different

Naw, I can't watch that. Tedious. His voice is too nasal to deal with for fifteen minutes. And the editing is just panning zooms. Nope. I'd much rather read the Grimoire cards. If only Bungie would improve the damn phone app interface so reading them isn't miserable.

I can't believe how many people are SATISFIED with how Bungie delivered the story in Destiny. This guy spends a few personal hours showing how good the story could be portrayed and these fools are happy with the gash we've paid for? You people are the reason gaming is going to die. From Halo to Destiny is quite a way to fall as far as storytelling goes.

Umm... Toland never went with Eris. Plus Eris was a hunter. She has the lucky raspberry chest piece on.

The youtube channel this comes from is Sir Wallen. Check it out. He goes into detail about each enemy, faction and race. His theories are great too.

Awesome

Brilliantly done, far better than the Bungie offering!

l hate how everyone is on Bungie's ass for bad story telling. lf you go back, at the time Halo: CE story was horrible but 15 years and 5 games later it all makes sense because they had so much time to develop it and figure out what people wanted. A great story is not just made over night. lt will take time, patience, and the help of fans to bring out the story of what Destiny could be. We have only seen the tip of the iceburg.

Why the blam! wasn't this in the game? Who thought, "nah, let's just put all of this story in writing so that the game is as boring as possible. All of that was so interesting and gives me such greater understanding, but I never would have known. This needs to be done through cutscenes and conversations with npcs and stuff. Not through grimore. Thanks to whoever put this together! You are truly legend.
