Were friggin zombies for crying out loud. We go around killing countless things because a ball tells us to. We thrive and grow stronger off the death and destruction of each other (crucible) and the genocide of these alien races. We do not know or even have proof of what the "darkness" is but we have the capability to create and use weapons that harness this power (Toland and bad juju, thorn, husk of the pit, etc). Yup..
