Procedurally Generated Destiny Universe.
Bungie if you can one day incorporate something of this nature into the universe of Destiny, that will be the day I will return.
Program an engine that can create a procedurally generated world with many biomes, deserts; mountains; swamps; oceans; glaciers; jungles; forests, with plants, trees, structures, snow, caves, rocks, and of course enemies.
Allow it to create the biomes for other planets.
Create a variation and decide upon its use.
Capture a segment of that chosen variation.

Take that segment and cut it into 64 smaller segments. Let’s call these segments chunks. (This sounding a bit like minecraft?)

Each Chunk is a 4 sq. mile playable area.
The game engine loads chucks when needed.
The artists and designers then only have to fill the chunks with necessary items for optimal story and mission content. All the rest of the segment is pre generated.
Massive playable areas could be easily created for use in short periods of time, especially if they require minimal additions for story related content.
The player can then select the chunk they would like to deploy in at the click of a button.
I bet this would be some hard work. But in my humble opinion, it would be well worth it.
