I'm not sure if any one else experiences this or I have missed something in how axion bolts work. But quite frequently (in PVP) when an axion bolt grenade is thrown and explodes on top of or near an enemy, no bolts actually come out and very little damage is dealt.
In my last game this happened and the grenade caused a whopping 6 damage.
Now I know its not something that just happens to me because of my poor connection as I see it happen to other warlocks. Enemy is nearly dead, grenade thrown next to them , practically no damage dealt.
TBH I don't see how it could be connection based as at least the damage would happen at somepoint, currently I see the grenade hit and no bolts seem to spawn and minimal damage is dealt.
Does any body else come across this, Or have I just missed something about how they work?

This grenade is really good when it works . . . But it usually doesnt. I will go five games with it working fine, then ten games with it not working at all. Did bungie ever respond to this issue?

Me And My Mates Make Jokes Whenever We See This Grenade. Because Is Chases You Around And Does All The Work For Them. *Sees Axion Bolt* *SIGH* RIGHT. ILL BE BACK IN FIVE MINUETS. (Because They Chance You Around Duh!) It's Actually Pretty Fun!

Ive also noticed that when ive thrown grenades ( in close quarters ) with the voidfang vestments on, it only spawns one axiom bolt seeker at times... Dont know if anyone else has that issue but ive seen it happen more than twice.
-
Yeah I think that they got the nerf bat some time ago. Because of that, I hardly ever use voidwalker in pvp anymore.
-
These were my go to grenades. But I quit using them altogether just for that reason.
-
Axiom bolts are finicky. I've learned to never throw them directly at an enemy because it seems the seekers are destroyed by the impact. Just toss them within range and let it find the enemies itself.
-
Yes I experience this as well. I only use the axiom bolt in pvp to flush out guardians hiding around corners. Works like a charm.
-
The weird thing about Axion Bolt is that you must make sure the grenade does not land directly near your target. You have to make sure the initial explosion (that spawns the bolt) is what needs to sort of "touch" the Guardian. If they're at the epicenter of the explosion, the bolts either don't come out or do like no dmg or don't even follow them. It's really weird. The grenade is very temperamental.

Yes it happens sometimes. Most of it happens when the warlock dies at the same time or before the grenade explodes.. I dont know if it's intended or a glitch though..

I believe if they escape from the grenade radius in time they can avoid being tracked by the axion bolt
-
Yes! The exact same thing keeps happening to me! It seems like sometimes when you hit them almost dead on theres just like a puff of smoke and it does a small amount of damage. Thats probably just the bolt hitting them before we can even see it but still doesnt explain the cruddy damage. And like you say, sometimes i leave someone with the tiniest sliver of health and watch my axion bolt hit them for a grand total of 2 damage that they survive... and this is my GRENADE??? Absolutely outrageous

I noticed when I throw it at one player and both hit, they will die. If it splits between two players they are only weakened.
