As the title reads above, I believe Dragons Breath is better than many of you may think. Better than Gjallahorn in many cases.
I am not saying it replaces Ghorn in every encounter, just in some situations.
I run DB in Crota's End in every phase except for the Crota fight with extreme success.
Lamps - Drop a huge blast with the Flare at a lamp and let your fireteam recover breifly.
Dropping a blast in your path will cause the thrall to disperse all over the place, often killing themselves falling into holes.
And lastly, firing it at the base of the bridge, keeps thrall back, while you wait for it to build and while you sprint across the bridge.
Bridge- If you know the lanes where the mobs spawn, you can spam them with DB, dealing significant damage to them as soon as they exit.
Hallway - 1 DB rocket at 331 kills a shrieker. Also, firing the rockets into the hallway, clears it of thralls for your runner to make the 2nd chest.
Ir Yut- This encounter is where the Rocket Launcher really shines. After killing both wizards, and clearing the shriekers on both sides, rush left and dump 5 remaining DB's shells into her and she literally melts. She barely moves, and basically sits in the AOE damage the whole time. Not to mention it deals TONS of damage to the adds around her.
Also, most of the strike bosses hardly move, which makes DB extremely effective for them. Such as the devil walker, valas, phogoth, sepikis, the templar in VOG and the nexus. The list goes on and on.
Edit: I'll get some guardians together today, and use our DB's to show just how effective they are. Stand by for youtube links. Give me a day or so, I am a parent so I get about 1-2 hours a day tops.
Oh wow, this is trending. Apparently people don't believe me.

Edited by Kweh: 2/3/2015 8:46:55 PMIt's fun to use for me. That's all I need. Who cares what you use in strikes. So many people on this site remind me of the marine in Men In Black that was getting recruited for K's partner. "To be the best of the best of the best sir!" (Gally). Will Smith (DB) can be just as fun to have around.

Edited by IrishTheSavage: 2/3/2015 7:24:03 PMRich mans Gjallarhorn...
-
DB works great for the abyss till a thrall or teammate jumps in front of you. But that never happens. 0_o
-
I have Dragons Breath. I do not have Gjallarhorn. Even I, know Gjallarhorn is better than Dragons Breath.. LOL.
-
I agree. It does just as much, maybe even more damage than hunger of crota. Plus the solar flare really helps. If it had tracking rockets, I guarantee people would accept it
-
Ir Yut is way wrong bud, for me she moves in a circle
-
I'm bad at dumb fire so I dismantled mine
-
I think you forgot that the damage the ghorn does to a specific target is insane and completely outdoes the db in damage if you like your db that's cool but if you replace the db with ghorn you'll see where enemies are injured they word be dead... But I don't use my db enough to say I found a use for it.. My play style is either I kill it or ignore it no in between.
-
Have 331 of both and it doesn't compare.
-
I haven't played crota too much but I just had a feelin they made that gun with that raid in mind. But got no proof or anything to see that it's awesome or not. I did pull it out the other day and it was seeming better Than I remembered.
-
I will agree on the Maze and Ir Yut. The bridge however, Ghorn is better. You can hide behind the lamps and down the ogres very easily, not even having to deal with the rest of the ads
-
Ok you forgot one detail... Where's the tracking and the glory with wolfpack rounds does tons of damage
-
Edited by Lord Fried: 2/3/2015 1:25:30 PMDragons Breath is garbage...there are blue rocket launchers i'd rather use /discussion
-
DB is good but if I get kicked for having one equipped I would rather just keep my ghorn equipped
-
I tried it on Ir Yut on hard mode last night and wrecked her...nice tip
-
I like dragons breath, but I like gjallahorn better
-
Edited by SLlIK: 2/3/2015 1:13:57 PMClearly someone has never been graced by the true might of the Gajellyhornerino, NOTHING beats it's single enemy, single shot damage capabilities, it is the boss killer, end of story. Dragons Breath has it's uses, but so do solar grenades, pulse grenades, lightning grenades, spike grenades, and proximity mines. Lol obviously combining Gjally with solar grenades never crossed your mind.

Please don't use Dragon's Breath for Aksor unless you have a sniper to keep him in place
As the title reads above, I believe Dragons Breath is better than many of you may think. Better than Gjallahorn in many cases.
"Better than Gjallahorn in many cases" No, not even. I have Gjallarhorn 331, Gjallarhorn 300 and DB 331. I did a DPS test with all of them and Gjallarhorn does 12k more damage than DB against strike bosses. That is including ten ticks of the solar grenade damage, which you will usually never get. The test was done with a 300 Gjallarhorn as well and it still outperformed a 331 Dragon's breath. My original test is lost in time but I can easily do the test again and get exact numbers.

In only one of those situations is it better than Ghorn.. And you can just use Fatebringer/Icebreaker/Any weapon with Firefly and it's far better than DB.. Seriously, 5 shots of DB into Deathsinger? What do you think 5 Ghorn shots would do? Conclusion: DB is a terrible exotic.. You can try to justify Truth but even that isn't worth it. Ghorn > All.
-
Bro I have this cool rocket, it's called. A Gjallarhorn.
-
I like it, it is fun to use, it looks good and I've had two legendary engrams drop from blowing up mobs with it. However three issues I have with it: 1) I do not feel like I have to use it. It is not a game changer as its biggest benefits (mob killing, solar flare) aren't needed other than the times pointed out above. Good for soloing a devil walker and a decent strike boss killer, but I can get almost the same from my vanguard launcher and then have Icebreaker as well. 2) The Tripod perk triggers the heavy ammo bug which annoys the hell out of me. 3) The solar flare causes almost as many issues as it solves (Crota and anyone mobile running away and doing odd things) Funnily enough it is probably number 2) which stops me using it more.

Just got it in my nightfall today. What should I do?
-
i made crota HM with that rocket launcher.

Edited by Froboy: 2/3/2015 6:22:53 AM
Better than Gjallahorn in many cases.
Read this, lol'd. But yeah the title is true.

...errrm, not trying to say I disagree with OP, but isn't the 'fireball' perk pretty much a Warlock's grenade? DB is a great launcher, I have mine maxed even, but it's just doesn't feel as powerful as other launchers like HoC for example
