Pros and Cons of the "Turn Back!" message:
Pros:
- in PvP(and possibly PvE) maps... stops players from taking unfair positions on the map
- keeps players from discovering unfinished areas
- saves game master from "unstucking" people from out of bounds areas
Cons:
- immediately flips a switch in the human brain that obnoxiously states "you can't do that". Whether you're 10 or 50 you will be annoyed by the fact that you cannot walk in an area that is clearly walkable. (this is not conducive to the world experience)
- takes away from obvious work done on the environment
I understand keeping the PvP maps tightly bound, but everything else?
Let us play in the world you have created. If we find a boundary that you have yet to complete so be it. I'd rather reach the end of a terrain model than be told I can go no further.
Do you think the boundaries are necessary or not?

They should do a better job of blocking off these areas from reach. I understand that you can't encompass the entire Earth/Moon/Venus/Mars with your maps. Maybe take some lessons from Borderlands 2, if you begin to leave the playable area you get shot, by giant lasers, that is insta-death. I'm not saying line the map with laser turrets, but add some hazards so my guardian doesn't fall over dead because he walked to far out.
