When times like these come around, with Heavy Ammo Synthesis not being sold by Xur, it's extremely hard for some to waste so much glimmer on just one synthesis. I understand completely, it definitely adds up. I wanted to share with all of you a simple, easy solution that, with time, will help immensely.
During strikes, patrols, story missions, and raids there are sometimes little triangles that drop from killing enemies, majors and ultras in particular, that when you approach good ol' Master Rahool you can exchange for 200 glimmer a piece. If you haven't guessed by now I'm talking about the four different types of consumables. Listed as below:
Axiomatic Beads- Obtained from The Vex
House Banners- Obtained from The Fallen
Network Keys- Obtained from The Cabal
Silken Codex- Obtained from The Hive
Next time you get any of these consumables, store them in your vault. I've been doing this ever since the first month of Destiny's release and it's definitely made multiple situations where I've needed glimmer desperately a whole lot easier. I have on average about 100-150 of each consumable. Coming out to be between 80,000 and 120,000 glimmer. Basically coming out to be around 80 to 120 synthesis of you want that many. Seeing as the maximum glimmer cap is 25k it's basically like a savings account for you to dip into in times of desperate need.
Just thought I'd share with y'all something that I really find helpful, especially those new to the game as well as my alpha, beta, and day one players.
Leave a comment below to let me know if this helped or not, I'd greatly appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

Edited by Novabox: 1/30/2015 1:53:34 PMI have an easier solution for you. Like many, I bleed heavy ammo because I use the carry extra heavy ammo perk on my gear. Don't have much choice but to use it, because it is my raid gear. I equip my icebreaker as my special, and typically a hand cannon or another primary that I can empty out quickly. I quickly empty out all of my primary and heavy ammo so I'm only left with my six icebreaker rounds. I then switch to my icebreaker and begin to kill as many ads as possible. Every kill will drop a heavy ammo pack on the ground until the primary ammo regenerates itself, While I don't typically like to have to do that, in my eyes it's only fair considering how much ammo I have lost over time.

That's right, More grinding to compensate for losing heavy ammo at every turn. That's just the solution the player base is ready to support. Until such time as Bungie patches the ammo bug glitch, they should make it easier to get heavy ammo paks, and I'm not even talking about being compensated for all of the heavy ammo lost to the bug.

I might actually start doing this.

hmmm yeah, that's a good idea. I usually just cash them in right away, but now i think i'll save them
