It's time.....
For grammar lessons.
This forum is riddled with illiterate monkeys and illegible posts. Now perhaps some of this is autocorrect, but I sense the two greatest portions of misspelling are made up of those who are:
A). apathetic
B). Illiterate potatoes
That being said, use this as a helpful guide as to which words bear the proper definition for your plight. This is not a satirical post, and I don't need your criticisms and assholistic comments, so move along if that is your goal.
You're- You are (Ie; You're quite lovely today)
Your- It belongs to you (Ie; Is that gun yours?)

From liefglinde:
How about a lesson on proper apostrophe use? As in apostrophes are used to signify possession and for contractions, not for plurals.
Improper: We did a lot of strike's.
Proper: We did a lot of strikes.
Improper: The raids difficulty was increased.
Proper: The raid's difficulty was increased.

From AJ Clock Work
Spare a thought for the humble comma! So many seem to fire the comma shotgun so that sentences and paragraphs become littered. The poor little bugger is overworked and confused about its role.
Primarily its place is in the listing of things which is simple, efficient and easy to remember. There is an omission of the Oxford comma there as it has largely fallen out of common usage.
Then you can, if you are so inclined, use it to create a sub-sentence before continuing the flow.
Creating pauses, separating speech and quotes are also places where the comma likes to be. Don't just use it because you had to take a breath.
Most of all enjoy the freedom to criticise :)
Constructively where possible.
So, any others I need to cover? Feel free to comment if there are and I'll update this post.
I promise, if you use these properly, your posts will be taken much more seriously.
Edit: Trolls, bring it on. This post was designed to lure you in and educate you, so if I have to beat you over the head with my board of education, I shall.
Edit #2: The amount of legitimate hate mail I am receiving over this is fantastic. I'm getting 3-paragraph essays about what a prick and asshole I am, and how I'm not so much better than everyone else. Keep it coming. I brought plenty of meat for the trolls.

Edited by lLemmingl: 1/29/2015 11:04:58 AMWhy did you insult monkeys? A monkey has a better chance of typing a coherent message than half the posters in this forum. You should apologise to the monkeys. ;-)
