Raiding with randoms is like...

being the sixth person in Guardians of the Galaxy. Maybe not every time, but most of the time you get these people. Rocket: The one guy with something to prove. This guy usually picks up the relic during Atheon's Timestream and dies once or twice, but keeps picking it up. Good player overall but a bit reckless. Smart mouth and all, you can pick this guy out. Groot: Great player. Doesn't say much, but he listens in most cases and helps you out of a few jams with some great power plays. Usually has some great gear and knows how to use it and when. This person also usually gets some of the best drops. Drax: Amazing player in most cases, but not the brightest. Usually doesn't get the sarcasm or jokes of the group and occasionally this person will pull a Leeroy Jenkins that inevitably becomes a wipe or scramble. But they make it for it later. Gamora: Probably the best player on your team, sometimes the highest Lvl as well. Secretly or, often openly, thinks most of you are idiots and suggests better or more efficient ways of getting a checkpoint done. But not a leader or follower by any means. Usually there just to help out because they have more experience. Star-Lord: (This could be you, maybe it's the other guy.) Leader, calls the shots, and generally influences the gameplay and strategy although very loosely and impromptu. Really funny and kinda laid back. This person is a solid player and you'll usually, if you're not him, remain friends with him to raid another day. Yondu: While not a member of the GotG, this guy is relevant. Person with great gear, really strong player but they aren't there to make friends. They just want the loot and they want to get it the fastest and simplest possible way. Still a team player in a way, but not by much. Expect this person to be the first one to leave the party/fireteam when the final fight is done and they get their loot. This isn't concrete and there are more qualities of people that I've encountered. But this just reminded me of a lot of people I've played with since launch between two consoles. If anyone has any other movie or comic book personalities that have manifested in your games, feel free to post them up. Or if you have something to add to GotG, feel free. I just thought this would be a fun thing to post up and see what others came up with. Edit: For the record I'm usually a Groot or Gamora when I'm with randoms, but a Drax when I'm with my actual friends because it's more interesting that way. Edit 2: thanks for all of the responses, people. I've met the most Yondu types out of all of them. But they've all been pretty great players nonetheless.

  • ...being in the middle of a tornado. When you first start out, you're in the eye of the storm where everything is quiet and peaceful. But as the tornado shifts away from you, the winds start to blow. Soon, they're growing so heavy that things are flying about, people are screaming and scattering about like ants, and chaos soon consumes the situation. Nothing got accomplished, and all you're left with is a group of confused, angry and disheartened people and a large pile of rubble. That's what raiding with randoms is like.
