I see a lot of dark souls posts here, I agree to an extent. While dark souls is definitely a challenging game I don't think it is hard in the sense that it doesn't hold your hand. Difficult? No. Unforgiving? Yes.

I find its trying to be patient when repeating sections for the twentieth time thats the problem. I tend to progress quickly or not at all in this game

What guidance does it offer other than there's 2 bells, one top and one below. And even then it would be so easy to miss it because he's just saying it and if your not listening your -blam!-ed

You don't necessarily have to know where to go to finish it, and I don't think that necessarily makes it hard either. You can beat the whole game as a level 1, however enemies get harder, but they stay the same way if you can figure out your strategy. Unforgiving, dark souls doesn't hold your hand and tell you every little bit. It lets you decide on what you want to do with an epic, expansive, yet linear, game. Dark souls is a masterpiece and some people don't understand that because they are babied too much and then get plopped in into an unforgiving world where you are the one who decides how you play it, what you do, and how you overcome the challenges placed upon you all while being enriched with story that is all around you, in item descriptions and inscriptions around the world that tell such a rich and deep story that is a lot of speculation as well.

I didn't find it particulaly hard, but I was used to the mechanics from demon souls. The souls games punish mistakes, it's just about learning what to do from your mistakes. Once you figure out what to do it's really not that hard.
