What is/is there a canonical reason for the Assault Rifle being absent from the H2 campaign?
Same question for the BR in Halo CE (already read the Reach one)

I don't think there is for either. In both cases, the majority of human weapons you use are from a starship's armory, so it's not out of the question some ships were outfitted differently.
