I just wanted to remind them that House of Wolves DLC is already on your Destiny Disk
Happy new Year and merry christmas to the noobs..
Here is some info on that in case it got burried by the forums.
This was discovered by a reddit user during a bug and was later removed off the forum but later reposted on major news sites, so its hardly new info, but Christmas noobs weren't aware they were being lied to by Bungie, so I just wanted to remind them that House of Wolves DLC is already on your Destiny Disk, it just doesn't have any enemies.
Leaked Screenshots

For accuracy purpose, These areas do exist and people were able to glitch into them, but their entrances may have been patched already? Also, about the levels in the screenshots. I am assuming the levels are lower, because this was meant to be released with the full game, but now the mission and strike levels will be 10 levels higher, so 32 instead 22 for example. These are not fake by the way.
P.S. The entire Destiny the Game is 40 GB total. Just FYI. The Expansion is 3 missions, 1 raid, 1 or 2 strikes, and 4+ pvp maps. That will be a very small download comparatively. So please if you choose to post criticism, make it constructive.

I just want to remind people that when you buy gasoline, it's actually 10% ethanol and 90% gas. They won't tell you that, and ethanol is cheaper but they charge you the price of gas for it anyways.

Yah bungie is turning out to be the Walmart of gaming companies.
everybody hates them but they still shop there, even thou Walmart is recking there community
Edited by TheHumbleHawk: 2/5/2015 12:28:56 PMInteresting post, thanks. As with many of you, HoW is Destiny's last chance. Regardless if the content is already hidden in the original disk or download, the content better be significant. The game has been fun, but it has run it's course. I will cross my fingers for us all. Unfortunately, past behavior is a perfect indicator of future performance.

There is a difference between having game assets in the disc and having the entire DLC on the disc. Game assets (textures, meshes, environments etc.) are pre-made before the game actually ships because the artists don't have enough work to do nearing the final release of the game as they are mostly done in the early phase of development and what happens next is programming, testing and bug fixes. So they start working on this DLC stuff already before the game releases and try to squeeze in as much as possible for FUTURE use on disc to reduce download times and bandwidth costs. Have you tried hosting terabytes of download through a service like akamai or your own? They are quite expensive. This does not mean it is COMPLETE content that is playable. The most difficult part, if you are a programmer you will understand, is to actually make the environment into a living world with proper path-scanning, AI, player interactable objects, event driven actions etc. This is not trivial and takes a substantial long time to do let alone get right. You think things like teleporting, oracles, time's vengeance is all automatically happens? No that takes significant code and testing and is complicated enough that even a large team of developers and testers is not sufficient to catch all the bugs (yes, I'm looking at you Atheon teleporting with the detainment shield). Yes, I know there are is that place with an "Ultra Captain" and mobs where they again put a standard placeholder enemy (a normal captain with just the name changed). This also doesn't mean it's finished content. They are standard mobs with just one name changed and behave the same way as on any area there is literally nothing special about them than being in the glitched area.

I was able to enter that area. Required no glitching. Just jumping.
-
Didnt we saw the place in the picture in on of the destiny trailers before destiny released?

Edited by Tri0nx: 2/24/2015 5:07:44 AMEverything is already on the disk, just kicked off for purchase. Money whoring is what companies do best.
-
Go and play it then if you already have it.
-
The only way I can see them not including this at launch because it wasn't 100% finished... It wasn't finished because bungie was too busy reconfiguring the game to stretch the playability ex. Heavy grinding, weekly resets, the cruelest RNG ever. They stretched the game out to make up for its next to nothing rushed narrative they had to redo And it was redone because they cut TDB and HoW Levels from the main story ... But it's all just a guess
-
Unfortunately I had purchased the expansion pack when I bought the game. I will stay play the DLC since I paid money for it, but this is the last time I preorder garbage from bungie.
-
Just because the foundation of a new house has been built doesn't mean you can start moving shit in. It's the same principle here. By laying down the groundwork, the patch required will be smaller. A lot of games do this. WoW did, and no one bitched then. Caverns of Time and Hyjal were in the game from day one. Stop looking for reasons to complain and enjoy the damn game.
-
Its not on your disc. Try this out. Unhook your internet from your console and fire up destiny and see what all you can access. Thats whats on your disc. Everything else is on their servers. Not defending them but this disc locked content statement is wrong.
-
So these giant updates we do before the DLC drops has nothing to do with the DLC.. no? They have made it pretty clear that these areas were built as placeholders and still entirely subject to change. They might have been shipped with the game but it was only to save us time further down the line (less stuff to download). It's clearly not finished or ready for launch.
-
the game should of launched with the dlc in it not as developer locked content
-
i just wanted to remind you those are place holders and no one cares anymore. shut up Meg.
-
None of it is on a disc for me. I bought my copy digitally. :)
-
Disc locked content is not new. Google, "Games with disc locked content"
-
People still crying about how a skeleton of stuff is on the disk? Yes Destiny is 40gb including ALL the skeletons for these dlc...... if they didn't have these areas on the disk the DLC would be alot bigger. Get over it, we know you feel like you got ripped off... move on
-
No one cares and why do you
-
I just want to remind you that you're a smelly weiner baby and I don't care.
-
Who gives a sheet. I've got my money's worth tenfold
-
Edited by poopenshaft: 2/26/2015 2:51:49 PMI was with you all the way until I read that destiny is mostly cutscenes Then I was all like, do you even play bro?
-
yup it's all there, we won't have to download ANYTHINGto access house of Wolves. just buy a key code to unlock the content, I mean that's what happened with TDB. oh, wait... that's not right at all
-
and there may be even more
