Why was Halo 5 called Halo 5 Guardians? What could the Guardians be?

Guardians could refer to how the Spartans are the Guardians of humanity. Or my favorite theory, is that the Guardians are this new force that is threatening life in the galaxy. I'm thinking that based on the one ominous MCC achievement called: The Guardians are Coming...
