It may have gone unnoticed, but the closing of the Iron Banner, signalled an end to an era, the Hawkmoon era. From launch, Hawkmoon had held the prestigious honour of being the most powerful hand cannon in Destiny. Unfortunately, that honour has been taken by an usurper to the throne - The mighty Lash of Timur! Be in no doubt about Timur's Lash, it is an executioner's hand cannon, brutal in every sense of the word. For a not too scientific investigation, I headed to Skywatch ( my shooting range), and proceeded to shoot standard mobs in the head, and record the scores displayed. Of the hand cannons in my possesion, these were the scores. 1) Timur's Lash, 604 precision. with luck in the chamber, this rises to 805. 2) Hawkmoon, 573 precision.with luck in the chamber, this rises to 764. =3) The Devil You Know, 546 precision. =3) Fatebringer, 546 precision. 4) Thorn 512, precision. 5) The Devil You Don't 488, precision. I know people are going to be clamouring for a response, but there are a few points I will make first: The Lash used in this investigation has the field scout property, giving it thirteen rounds in the chamber, and the luck in the chamber property. Regardless of whether the mobs I shot were above or below my level, the damage still scales, with each weapon. The Lash will always do more damage, than Hawkmoon, because it has a higher impact rating. The last point is, luck in the chamber. The hawkmoon has three bullets, and if you are fortunate enough, you can get one bullet with the Lash. The question we have to ask, is whether Hawkmoon with three lucky bullets, is more powerful than Timur's Lash with one lucky bullet. lets do the math, using the figures that I have presented above. Timur's Lash = (12 x 604) + 805 = [b]8053[/b] This is with one luck in the chamber. Hawkmoon = (10 x 573) + 764 +764 +764 = [b]8022[/b] This is with three lucky bullets in the chamber. Without Luck in the chamber, the disparity is even more pronounced. Timur's Lash = (13 x 604) = [b]7,852[/b] Hawkmoon = (13 x 573) = [b]7,449[/b] So, the conclusion of this not too scientific investigation, is that Timur's Lash with one lucky bullet in the chamber, punches just above the Hawkmoon with three lucky bullets in the chamber. If it was not for Luck in the Chamber, the differences between both hand cannons would be far greater. The Hawkmoon era is over, long live the mighty Lash of Timur!
