I' ve played Destiny solo since its release because none of my friends had it or wanted it. Getting to lv 29 has been one big grind and it's not fair. I cannot play VoG becuase I have nobody to do it with so have to wait for HOURS to get a fire team together. I cannot do the nightfall for the same reason. I cannot do crota's end, for the same reason. I cannot do the weekly heroic strike, for (you guessed it!) the same reason.
I didn't get an exotic (thorn) until level 27 becuase I couldn't get enough strange coins to buy things from xür and didnt get them from the crucible events or weekly strikes, but RNG hates everyone but a select few so I'll let the crucible and stardad strikes slip.
Having to play solo has completely set me back from other players. I've used one of my characters since release and its a lower level than some people from the Christmas rush!
I only had one question before writing this, now I have a small list and want to know the answers.
Why are solo players penalised for being alone?
Why aren't solo players getting better rewards for doing the same tasks as others but with less people?
Why is there no matchmaking on the weekly and nightfall strike?
Why is there no matchmaking on the raids?
Why have you patched grind zones when for a large majority its their only way of getting good gear?
I have doubts that these questions will even be looked at by anyone at Bungie, but I want to get them out there because I want the hundreds hours put into the game to be rewarded rather than being wasted because I have no friends that play destiny.
Edit: I know about groups, I'm not to interested in them because I'd rather play with friends. If you know good ones though, I might have a look.

The game is/was designed to be collaborative... This is the equivalent of somebody complaining that there isn't enough guns in Gran Turismo, or enough RTS in GTA, or that they can't be collaborative in skyrim. Some of the game's content was designed to be played in this fashion (with other people). Perhaps you're playing the wrong game? Or you could use the LFG sites referenced here and stop complaining?

Solo Crota on normal you will get the stuff to get to Lvl 32
-
Soloing all the aforementioned is possible with the exception of VoG. You just need the proper gear which can be bought at vanguard and weapons that will drop with time barring a few that just don't because they are not in your roll list at least that's how mine are example IB could never get regardless of hundreds of hours playing. Too many weeklies, nightfalls, strikes and raid completion. It just wasn't in my roll is all I can figure. If you want to play solo why would you be asking for match making?

Generally you post your console when you make these forum posts. Either way I can help. If you need it

Put a post up in the recruitment section, people I've played with so far have been absolutely brilliant. :)
-
If your on ps4 add me. I don't mind helping you out.

Edited by Graydoc: 1/22/2015 4:05:00 PMMr EGFC, I play solo a lot and you are welcome to friend me. Graydoc on PS4. But if you want to do the Nightfall, Weekly, etc., the best way is to start sending out friend requests a LOT. And the best way to find good, compatible players, is to do the strike playlist. Sometimes you can do several strikes in a row with a really good group of three. So, send those two guys a friend request. Soon, you might find you have a lot of friends online when you are and you'll have an easier time getting in a group for a weekly or Nightfall, etc.

Edited by Amadis001: 1/22/2015 4:04:14 PMIt only takes 5 minutes to get a fireteam together for nightfalll, weekly heroic or even the dailies if you post to the recruitment for for your platform. Raids are tougher but doable. Don't be afraid to play with randoms. Often they become friends. At this point I have friended so many former randoms that I don't need to post half the time -- just check what my friends are doing and jump in.

I'm conflicted on your post. On the one hand, it would be easy to ridicule you for crying about not being able to solo level 30 content at 29, because let's face it, that's just dumb. On the other hand, I agree there should be matchmaking at least for the weekly and Nightfall. We have all run the shit a million times, not like people wouldn't know what to do. So yeah, there should be matchmaking, but the weekly and Nightfall are infinitely doable solo... If you're leveled and geared properly.

With the huge lack of story content in this game, It really appears that at some point in the development, Bungie just gave up on the idea of a single player experience and just pushed out a co-op, multiplayer grind fest. When you look at all the developer diaries before launch, it really seemed that Destiny was going to have this epic scale story campaign and that the multiplayer aspect would just be a bonus. This really reminds me of Aliens Colonial Marines. Amazing dev diaries, really exciting trailers and then when the game launched, it was like "um what is this horrible mess you dumped on us? Where is the game you have been showing us the past year in your development diaries?"

Preach!

If your on Xbox one add me I love grinding and helping

Maybe try a clan out....it does suck looking for a team but once I raided with some cool people I just sent friend requests or looked at the clan they were in if any, and after awhile I built up a pretty big list of people to raid and nightfall with so try a clan:)...good luck

Use this app. You can join groups on bungie.net and find people instantly. I needed a group for nightfall and had an invite in about 15 seconds

Edited by Ssj3barry: 1/21/2015 9:17:43 PMI solod Crotas end last night last night on my titan & hunter, but I see your point. Try being more ruthless with your recruitment, spam posts and invites it never take me longer than 15 or 20 mins.

Nightfall is solo-able, of course so as the weekly. I did it, many time. Corta's end is solo able, seen people do it on video, I make a few attempt, not too bad, but still working on it. And if you get corta drop, you dont really need VOG.
-
I totally agree with you! I've even tried the forums and it's just such a ball ache trying to find a team to join. Literally playing the same bits over and over again is mind numbing and boring. So disappointing, I don't understand why bungie wouldn't do match making for the raids ect! I've given up and stopped playing the game, it's really annoying and I've been playing it since the day it got released. It's crazy how much time I've spent trying to upgrade my level which has been a waste of time!

In this app go to groups, join a clan, go to new clans chat room, send friend requests - problem solved. Not to sound trollish but there are ways to find people to play with if you try. I had zero friends playing destiny at the start i joined a clan and now have 30+ playing at any time i log in. If your xbox 360 add me if you want GT is same as name above.

I played solo for a while, it worked fine. I was able to complete nightfalls, weeklys but not the raids which was severely stunting my characters growth. Shortly after, I realized it was a fleeting effort and picked up the Recruitment section. It has never taken longer than 30 minutes to find a fire team for me and that is stretching the time tables. My suggestion would be to buck up and roll with it, I didn't want to play with others because I've never had luck. But, it makes it so much easier and you'll meet people that are willing to help you with whatever you may or may not need. I had 2 randoms join me the other day and helped me complete the Xyor section of Thorn when I had planned on soloing it.

Your on the forums go to recruitment
-
What console are you on? You can use the recruitment forums in here to find others for the raid or strikes, and also Destinylfg.net is a great site as well. I also heard of another that will group you in 100 based on console, play level, and geographic area.
-
Yeah this app has a recruitment section in the forums for ppl to run the raids nightfalls weeklies, so all this time you have been pissed and complaining and struggling is your own fault! You found a place to post this Whiney weak ass complaint, how did you not find the recruitment?? Whatever dude
-
No. You can get to level 31 by just playing solo. If you're a level 31, and you post on LFG, you can get a group in a matter of minutes. Stop pouting.

You could join a clan....... problem solved

Make new friends

What system are you on Op?
