So after 225+ hours in destiny and disappointment with the DLC/stat resets/etc I decided to take a break from Destiny for other games. (namely Diablo 3) I continued to do the weekly heroics and the nightfall with friends that are newer to the game and still in grind mode. However bounties, dailies, etc. I just couldn't do anymore.
I literally cut my play time in half easily. I swore I would mainly do PVP where weapon stats are normalized and hence didn't require me to level the plethora of exotics I have to compete.
Then, out of nowhere Xur decides to sell The Last Word. Since I'm a hand cannon junky and have been trying to get this forever I was excited, something new to try. It's pulled me back into the game briefly. The following week (I think) Xur sold Ice Breaker and everyone went crazy.
Does anyone else feel Xur's inventory is specifically designed to release "highly sought after weapons" to keep ppl around grinding endlessly? It feels like the only reason I'm coming back to this game is PVP and when Xur sells something new I didn't get due to RNG madness.
So…. Is Xur a stop gap until more/better content will be released? Is he necessary to the game? Or would you continue playing even if Xur didn't exist. I'll put my flame suite on and let you decide….
