The Lord Of The Rings movies weren't as good as the books (obviously) however they were still fantastic, I thought.
The Hobbit movies were nowhere near as good as the book, but were okay.
Now, The Silmarillion. Should Mr. Jackson make that in to a film? Or TV show?
I think not. The book is to intense for either, he could NOT do it justice. Nobody could.

there isn't really a way to turn a massive history lesson like the silmarillion(thousands of years time) into one cohesive narrative and formatted to 90 minutes and remain a profitable venture. Not many people outside Tolkien fans/nerds are going to know it, it doesn't have the massive brand recognition. people don't have that attention span. it would have to be mutilated to be a movie. maybe a 100 season long TV series like doctor who except less retarded?

We'll find out in 30 or 40 tears, maybe...when it becomes legal.

The Silmarillion wouldn't make sense as a movie. It's literally a history book. That's what was so amazing about Tolkien; he didn't just write a story, he created a whole universe with its own languages and history... and he wrote out that history. The Silmarillion is a tough book to get through because it reads like a history book. Making a movie out of The Silmarillion would be like making a movie out of your high school history text.

Personally, I wouldn't mind every book set in Middle Earth becoming a film by Peter Jackson...

Edited by A84: 1/19/2015 4:31:03 AMPerhaps have him co-direct it. Get some fresh perspective. He's done good, but the movies have gotten progressively worse. But I've always wanted the Silmarillion made into a movie.

He'd add filler despite the fact it's not needed. I couldn't possibly see it turning out good.
-
I would prefer a TV show so they could cover it better
-
Then Unfinished Tales of Numenor.
-
That would take a LOT of people
