I know when most people think of pets they generally think of dogs, cats, and even the various domesticated rodents widely available, but to my knowledge most people don't jump to the thought of owning a reptile as a pet. Some people actually prove to be quite fearful of certain, specific animals that fall into that category. If given the opportunity, would you like to own a reptile as a pet? If so, what kind of reptile would you choose? For those who already have little reptilian friends, feel free to share what animals you have.
I don't own any myself, but my girlfriend has a ball python as a pet, and she affectionately refers to it as "our child" since we both tend to take care of it and I was actually the one who bought it for her. I never really thought too much on keeping a reptile as a pet, but actually learning to handle and take care of one has brought the subject more into light for me, although I know the needs change depending on the specific breed of reptile it is. Ball pythons are pretty simple to care for, though. That's been an advantage.

I've got two leopard geckos. One's the usual yellow with spots all over and the other is bright orange. They spend probably 70% of their lives sticking their heads out of their hidey holes and just watching you walk around, but when they do decide to be active they're pretty cool looking slinking around their cage :)
