So a question i have:
What's the deal with the giant promethean eagle in the Halo 5 teaser trailer?

Well, we don't know what the deal is with it. However, it's probably not Promethean. More than likely a Warrior-Servant or Builder Security construct.
-
Giant War Sphinx?
-
War Sphinx, semi-sentient Forerunner equivalent to a Mantis. They vary in size and arsenal, though most follow the winged design. They are referenced repeatedly in the Forerunner Trilogy.
-
Equivalent to the Mantis? No, I think that's not an adequate comparison.
-
Well, their giant flying battlesuits that can function on their own ancilla. Think the Hrunting/Yggdrasil prototype from Halo Legends, except big and Forerunner. That's a more accurate comparison.

I'm very aware of what War Sphinxes are and capable if doing along with their Builder analogues. Keep in mind that the HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL MARK I armor system isn't much larger than the wearer. The size of it in 'The Prototype' is exaggerated by the anime directors.

I know. I was under the assumption that size difference was a given.

Edited by Lord of Admirals: 1/16/2015 5:54:53 PMWar Sphinxes are not like that. They have cockpits.
-
Which is why I originally compared it to a Mantis. Cockpit, animal-inspired design and mode of transportation, and they have a rudimentary AI to run the calibrations and synchronization for the legs. Let's go with this: If a Mantis is a Battle Droid, than a War Sphinx is a Vulture Droid.

If by AI you mean advanced algorithms, then yes. Yeah, I mean, they're similar in how they're both armor systems. But really I feel like that's it for the most part. Especially given the role both of them play in their respective militaries.
