Now, I know a lot of people would kill for this to happen. Being able to trade those pesky duplicate exotic drops, or faction gear that your friend wants, but is too lazy to level that vendor. And we can't forget about the friend who just got the game; we need to get him "up to par" A.S.A.P. so we can make Omnigul scream for another reason.
But think about it, a trading system wouldn't only ruin "The Destiny Experience" but it would ruin the satisfaction of those hard earned hours inside Crotas End. Yeah, it's frustrating getting that second "No Land Beyond" from the exotic chest, while you've been praying to the Destiny gods for that long deserved "Gjallarhorn". Doing crazy rituals like waving milliseconds before you open a chest/completing a nightfall, or emptying all of your ammo into the sky hoping someone will answer your call. But it's not just the rituals and silly things we do for higher chance of loot, but that pressure building relief once that last exotic piece we needed appears on the right hand side of our screen.
If we add a trading system (in Playstations case), users will be able to make multiple online accounts with 3 more of the same guardian, trading gear from a main to a secondary, running end level content and receiving (potentially) unlimited rewards/loot drops.
Now, you ask, why would that affect the Xbox side of things? And quite honestly, it wouldn't. But for the YouTube commentators and collectors on Microsoft's console, obtaining content would be so much more difficult! Trying to compete with someone allowed 10 separate accounts is like, dressing up as a blindfolded flamingo, attempting to rodeo on a pack of hungry wolves. And you may be thinking, "If someone does make multiple accounts all Lvl 20, then they deserve those benefits". But why even let someone have that advantage? Some of us gamers don't have the time to play majority of the week, and instead of causing more problems. The limit to 3 guardians - 1 account - shared loot is a good design on Bungies part.
Creating a trading system could benefit a lot of the impatient players. Allowing that glorious exotic gear to be tossed around like another uncommon item. Easily receivable if you know your way around. Completely removing the luck and prestige one needs to receive top tier goodies. Collectors and n00bies alike, we can all agree that the bright golden aura, illuminating our weapons and gear, makes us smile just a bit more. In knowing that, this is it, this is the weapon the community has been talking about, this is where all my life and grey hairs have come from. So let's keep it that way, we shouldn't succumb to our own greed for gear. Keep grinding out those weeklies and doing those rituals. And hopefully, bungie will make the in game vault easier to access...
Keep up the good work and happy hunting Guardians.

I've seen some pretty good ideas thrown out there so far. Some even enough to persuade my thinking. But so many people are repeating ideas and asking questions that have already been answered below. Someone earlier had posted a great idea for a compromise. Where people can get a type of trading system they're asking for. But with limitations. Read below:
i think they should add a type of trading. Allow trades of any loot you get from an event (raid/nightfall/crucible) between anyone else for any of the loot they receive in that event. This would ensure people couldn't hoard exotics and sell them later. Couldn't overpower noobs. Couldn't trade between accounts (unless you had 2 systems and either someone else playing or a patient team that didn't mind carrying a lane duck). But would allow people that get multiples to trade that to people that didn't. Like last week. Got a300 power ghorn from vog. Already have a331 maxed out, so i really have no use for it. Would have gladly traded it to someone on the team that had been wanting one. Or this week when i got 2 found verdicts when i beat the Templar. 2. Same drop. Bs right? Would have traded then both for the hell of it because i already have 3. Same with visions. An after event trade system would actually only make the game better and make the craptastic loot system a little more forgiving.
This proposition, mixed in with a few other ideas could be a possibility to make this happen. And I'm all for input, so keep throwing out ideas. I love the positive activity on this thread.
Keep it up Guardians, and I hope to see you on Patrol.

Add it. I have 2 hawkmoons. Anyone wanna trade?
-
Trading for items instead if gear may be good or also trading Legendary or less so that when you get a legendary that does no fit your play style but your friend REALLY wants it then you can give that to them. But look at Warframe trade is the Elephant in the room and everyone knows it but they won't talk about it because the game is literally just a trade hub. :D
-
Yup, trading would ruin the game. All you need is skill and a little luck to get good gear. The whole point of destiny is playing to unlock the best loot not get the best loot traded to you then go play mission, strikes and raids the entire game would be pointless with trading!
-
Like honestly, what in gods good 2500 yr old garden would you want a trading system for??? like honestly, they already gave us materials we can buy!! They want you to grind for it so grind.
-
No raid gear would be trade able, problem solved.
-
They could make so you can only trade exotics or legend arise if you were in their fire team when they got the item. Thx for the essay on trading btw.

Stupid guy is stupid

Edited by JackTheRipperRoo : 1/15/2015 3:52:02 PMIf they add trade system it mean everyone have vex without do hard raid
-
i say plauer controlled market so if i need 10 radiant shards i can be like "hey buddy want a gjallarhorn or an ib for som rafiant shards?
-
A trade system would not ruin the game. Plain and simple. The reason why you get multiples of the same loot is for the trading system that was originally designed for the game.
-
And I have a mentally I'll 7 year old friend who I would love to give my ice breaker to but I can't
-
Who the hell has time to raid on ten accounts
-
Allow people to trade raid drops before they leave the raid, that's all. Like, hey I got my third song of ir yut... Wanna trade your light of the abyss? It would have to be the exact same fireteam. No out of raid trade would make this game better though... Multi accounts galore.
-
Trade windows in the end of raids to share untouched items. Any XP on the item no matter how small should render them untradable. This will prevent people creating multiple accounts to trade with them selves good gear to improve chances if getting better gear. But if a person wants to do that ... So what ... Good for them, they're not ruining anything So stop being jealous of what others have and enjoy what you have
-
Not only that but people will trade their guns for real life cash .gjally for 50 ice for 50. Trading system will ruin destiny.
-
I just think a trade system would get out of ballence real quick person 1: "have ice breaker wiling to trade" guardian 2"ok I have 2 fate bringers a vex and a dragon's breath" 1: "hmm not enough I see you have the black hammer there throw that in and you have a deal I'll need a new sniper"
-
I agree, with the whole just giving it away but there needs to be a trade system that is trading for equal levels so exotic for exotic raid gear for raid gear or legendary for legendary. Cause it would prevent giving it away and help more Experienced players.
-
I'd actually support a trading system where you can trade among friends an friends only. An here is why I support it. I've played VoG since the day I was level 28 every week an have only gotten shards an the revenge sniper rifle. While my friends have gotten Vision of Confluence every single week. An my friends have told me that, if there was a trading system, that they would give me one of their visions. Examples like this is why I support a trading system. Because, I keep getting weapons my friends want too that id give them if their was a trading system. I hope Bungie adds it to their 3rd DLC a for destiny.

Edited by SaladSlugger: 1/15/2015 7:57:28 PMSo if exotics being traded is your main concern, then why not limit it to only legendary rarity and down. EDIT: And I'm sure there's a good reason for dismissing this idea as well, but brainstorming and criticism is always a good thing.

STFU You know nothing
-
you van have a tradeing system Witherspoon raid armor/weapons beeing bind when pick up.
-
Simple make it so each person has to dish out 50 strange coins each. Problem solved
-
I agree and I don't have the jelly or ib!
-
Bungie hasn't even remotely discussed the features that would come along with a trading system in destiny. So how in the world can you possibly make this many assumptions so quickly? Personally I think trading would have a very positive influence on most of destiny's community, provided that it is implemented correctly into the system.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug

When you say it will ruin the destiny experience, what experience? The frustration? In my opinion if it's added it's just one more thing to do in destiny. It wouldn't bother me if people chose to use the feature.
