So I've finally decided to create my 2nd character, a Titan, over the weekend. My goal was to get to level 20 as quick as possible to be able to equip my sweet rng exotic & legendary gear. Doing as many bounties as possible while playing through the stories. I only did the first 2 strikes, Sepiks and Phogoth, when I was leveled up enough to not waste my time constantly dying. I ended up hitting level 20 mid way through the black garden mission. I quickly equipped my new gear during that mission and BOOM level 25! Now I just need to grind vanguard marks to get some new gauntlets. This is a nice addition to my roster, currently have a level 31 Warlock I've played since September.
One thing I noticed this time around is that I didn't bother trying to upgrade my gear every time I had the chance. I had saved some blue engrams into my vault that I had acquired with my warlock in anticipation of creating my Titan. They turned into some nicely spec'd blue level Arihant Type gear which I ran with the entire time once I was able to equip them. My defense was just under 300 the entire time also worth these. I also ran with a few green guns since the specs were good, better than some of my legendary guns aside from the stated damage being lower. Funny thing about that damage I found, my green auto rifles were still giving me 90-100 critical dps, better then some of my legendary again. I ran with my level 3 sniper the whole way also. I was getting a max of 1400+ critical dps with this thing! The impact it has is double that to my closest legendary. I did get a nice blue level 10 scout rifle drop also with great specs. This thing was giving me 400+ critical dps from its low stated damage, equal to some of the other legendary scouts I have.
It was a great experience starting over. One that made me rethink weapons in general and how their stated damage output really is compared to those lower level guns you start with. Kept a few good spec'd ones for some crucible laughs, "how did he beat me with a green gun!"

Did the same thing over the last week with my Warlock, just reached lvl30 last night. One roadblock you may encounter as you move into the higher 20's is a lack of plasteel plating that armor upgrades will require. Since you bumped from 20-25 without playing no armor was dismantled, hence no plating(or not much). When I equipped my saved armor on my newly minted 20 it bumped him to 27 but getting the plating I needed to buff the armor took a bit of work. I found the easiest way was to farm engrams by running a bunch of ROC strikes and I never left a green engram on the ground. Congrats on the new toon!
